Shouxian men who bought and sold rare parrots were sentenced and fined by the court

Xin'an Evening News Anhui Network Dawan News On August 31, the Shouxian People's Court concluded the trial of a case endangering rare and endangered wild animals, and the defendant Xue Mou was sentenced to 1 year in prison, suspended for 2 years, and fined 3,000 yuan, and 2,600 yuan of illegal gains were recovered and handed over to the state treasury (recovered).

In April 2018, Xue learned in a QQ group selling parrots that Cao of Hefei, out of his love for parrots, bought two "golden sun parrots" from Cao for 2800 yuan and carefully fed them at home. Later, Xue inquired on the Internet and found that the two parrots he fed were rare and endangered wild animals protected by the state.

In addition to liking parrots, Xue also loves dogs, and has more than 10 dogs at home, but Xue did not expect that when the parrot barked, more than 10 dogs followed suit, and the dog barked to attract neighbors to give advice, and Xue decided to sell the parrot.

On August 14, 2019, Xue contacted Shen Mou, a native of Henan, through WeChat, knowing that the two "Golden Sun Parrots" were precious and endangered wild animals protected by the state, and still sold them to Li for 2600 yuan. At the end of 2020, the Henan police found that Xue had bought and sold precious parrots, and sent a letter to the Huainan police to investigate the case, and Xue then confessed to his illegal behavior.

According to the physical evidence of the Forest Public Security Forensic Appraisal Center of the State Forestry Administration, the solar cone-tailed parrot belongs to the parrot family and is listed in Appendix II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES Convention, 2019 Edition).

The court held that Xue violated the national wildlife protection laws and regulations by illegally purchasing and selling rare and endangered wild animals under national key protection, and his behavior had constituted the crime of endangering precious and endangered wild animals. In view of the fact that he was able to truthfully confess his crime after arriving at the case and was willing to accept punishment, he could be given a lighter punishment, so the above judgment was made in accordance with law.

The judge reminded: It is normal for people to accompany themselves and enrich their lives by raising pets, but some wild animals cannot be bought and raised by individuals as pets, and people who have the hobby of raising pets must not hold a fluke mentality, even if the merchant labels "pets" as "artificial breeding", it is also necessary to improve legal awareness, carefully verify the breed and then buy, do not ignorantly violate the law, and can not know the law and break the law.
