The new directory of wild animals under national key protection was announced

On February 5, the new list of wild animals under national key protection was officially announced. On the basis of all species on the original list, 517 species (classes) of wild animals have been added to the new list. 65 species, such as jackals and Yangtze River finless porpoises, have been upgraded from national second-level protected wild animals to first-class wild animals.

On March 16, 2017, staff of the Institute of Hydrobiology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences conducted a physical examination of finless porpoises in the Duchang waters of Poyang Lake.
