Chapter Three: The Allusion to the Venerable Teacher in the Field of Chinese Music
In the traditional culture of the East, not only is it "the text carries the Tao", but music can also be the carrier of the Tao, and by teaching, playing, and listening to music, the inheritance of the Tao's Dharma lineage can be realized. Therefore, in our Eastern civilization, Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism, Yoga and Chinese Medicine, etc., all have allusions to preaching through music. In the previous chapters, some of the content has already been involved in this topic, such as Confucius Xueqin, Confucius Wenshao, etc. However, due to the serious lack of relevant information, other allusions need to be further excavated and explained, and only two articles are recorded here for the benefit of readers.
Yu Boya, a native of the Spring and Autumn Warring States. At a young age, he showed outstanding musical talent, and later learned to play the piano to Mr. Chenglian. "Boya Learning the Piano" is a very wonderful story. In the Tang Dynasty Wu Jing's "Lefu Ancient Title to Solve Narcissus Exercise", it is recorded: "Bo Ya learned to play the piano in Mr. Chenglian, and it took three years to become one." As for spiritual loneliness, single-mindedness, has not yet been able to also. Cheng Lianyun: 'My master zichun is in the sea, and he can move people's feelings.' 'But with Boya looking out, there is no one. When we reached Mount Penglai, Liu Boya said, "I will welcome my master." 'Row away, and never come back.' Bo Ya looked at no one closely, but he heard the sound of the sea crashing, the mountains and forests, the birds crying, and sighed: 'Sir will move my feelings!' 'It is a song of help to the piano.' At the end of the song, it returned as a series of stabbing boats. Bo Ya became a magic hand in the world. ”[1]
Yu Boya has learned the piano diligently, his mind is on the piano, and after three years, he has achieved something, but he is not good at realm and single-mindedness. Mr. Chenglian, the teacher, was well aware of this, so he said to him: "I have a teacher named Fang Zichun, who lives in the East China Sea and can empathize with people. Therefore, Yu Boya followed Mr. Cheng Lian by boat to Penglai Mountain, and the teacher told Yu Boya that he would live here for the time being and go to meet the teacher himself. After saying that, Mr. Cheng Lian rowed away and did not come back for a long time. Yu Boya lives on an isolated island, looking around at no one, only the sound of the sea crashing on the waves, the dark silence of the mountains and forests, and the mournful song of birds. Yu Boya's heart corresponded to the situation, and he sighed: "Mr. Chenglian has moved my feelings!" Then, Bo Ya stroked the piano and sang. After a song, Mr. Cheng Lian rowed home. Since then, Yu Boya's piano skills have grown for a long time, and he has finally become a famous artist.
The story of Yu Boya and his teacher, Mr. Chenglian, is quite touching. Mr. Chenglian knows the crux of this apprentice, so he designs to trap him in the deep sea of an isolated island, when there is no one around, the body and mind are integrated into nature, the emotion is no longer tied up by the world, and then the piano is naturally free of the fireworks, and the wonderful sound of the harmonious symbiosis of all things in heaven and earth is popped out. The teacher's painstaking heart, Yu Boya put down the worldly thoughts before he understood, and only then did he enter. The master has a hill in his chest and naturally understands the disciple, and if the disciple cannot understand the deep meaning of the master, everything will be in vain!
The story of Yu Boya and Zhong Zi period is also recorded in the Liezi Tang Qian:
Bo Ya is good at drumming and piano, and Zhong Zi is good at listening. Bo Ya drums and piano, aiming to climb the mountain. Zhong Zi said, "Zenza! Ega Xi Ruo Taishan! Aiming at the flowing water, Zhong Zi said, "Zenza! It's like a river! "What Bo Ya reads, the bell will be obtained." Bo Ya swims in the shade of Mount Tai, and when it rains heavily, it stops under the rock; the heart is sad, but it is to help the piano and drum. At first, it was the exercise of rain and rain, and it also created the sound of collapsing mountains. Every time the song is played, the bell period is exhausted. Bo Ya Nai Sheqin sighed, "Zenza! Good riddance! Zi no Listens to Fu Zhi and imagines Yugo Heart also. Why should I escape? ”
This is the origin of the famous "Mountain Flowing Water Meets Zhiyin", and the friendship between Yu Boya and Zhong Zi period has also been recited through the ages.
