Re-read The Oxfly: Life is a tree full of possibilities

author:Educate rice mice

I remember watching Milan Kundera say that "life is a tree full of possibilities", although I felt quite philosophical, I didn't seem to care. Recently re-read "The Bullfly", around the front and back of the book, carefully and repeatedly pondered several times, and then compared to the sentence Kundera said, I feel that people sometimes really can't resist life, many things are not developed according to our previous assumptions, maybe just an accidental small event, you can change all this, good or bad.

Let's start with Voynich, the author of this novel. The Irish woman writer's original vision was not to become a writer. She lost her father at an early age and moved with her mother from Ireland to London. From common sense, it is speculated that at this time, her life situation is not difficult, it should also be very general, and it is unlikely that she wants to go to a good university. However, when she was eighteen, she unexpectedly received a bequest from a relative and friend, and was able to go to Germany to study. Notice, as I mentioned earlier, her dream is not to be a writer, so she studied at the BerlinErsthaus in Germany, and she wanted to be a professional pianist. It is said that after professional training in universities, this road to pianists is at least possible, if not very smooth. Unexpectedly, after graduating from college, she suffered from severe finger spasms and had to say goodbye to the piano with tears. Bored, she went to the Louvre in France to relax, and a portrait caught her attention. The Italian youth in the painting is dressed in black and black hats, his eyes are melancholy, and he exudes an air of arrogance. Before leaving, she bought the portrait. After countless eye-to-eye and heart-to-heart exchanges, she finally created the "Bullfly" based on the Italian youth in the painting.

Let's talk about the novel "Bullfly". Voynich was not a famous writer at that time, so "Bullfly" came out in 1897, and when it was first released in Britain and the United States, there were not many prints, and the literary community reflected it was mediocre. If it really goes on like this, maybe we won't have a chance to read Bullfly today. The turning point began in Russia, where after a Russian magazine serialized "Cattle Fly", countless Russians fell in love with "Bullfly" and made it into a movie, and even fell in love with its owner Voynich. In 1953, "The Bullfly" was translated and disseminated to China, which immediately triggered a sensational reading effect, and this revolutionary novel from a distant country turned out to be a red classic in the hearts of many Chinese, and Voynich became a household name. What is even more amazing is that in 1955, Peter Polysov of the former Soviet Mission to the United Nations planned to search for Voynich's cemetery in the United States, but she did not expect that she was still alive, and was surprised to exclaim: "I found mark Twain alive ... In our minds, she is simply a second God. Subsequently, a large number of Soviet journalists and literary groups flocked to the former Soviet newspaper Pravda, which carried a front-page headline with a very eye-catching headline: "Voynich is still alive, living in New York!"

Finally, let's talk about the protagonist of the novel, The Bullfly. It starts with Arthur. When the oxfly was arthur, he was originally a well-bred rich man, and although his birth was somewhat unbearable, he did not know all this before. He was well educated, simple and kind by nature, he had the most revered priest Montenelli, and he had the most beloved female classmate Joma. According to the course of his life, it is highly likely that he will become a respected priest, just like Montenieri. But some things were destined to be impossible to escape, and when he confessed his love to the priest, he was tempted to reveal the secrets of the revolution, so he became a "traitor" in the eyes of his comrades, and what saddle him most was that Joma gave him a resounding slap, and then he learned that he was Montenelli's illegitimate son. What could be worse than being misunderstood by the one you love the most, being deceived by the person you trust the most? He chose to "drown and commit suicide" and crossed the ocean, and after 13 years of purgatory-like beatings, he re-assumed the name of "Bullfly" to face the world. What would have happened without that confession to the priest? Perhaps, from Arthur to Cattle Fly, this is the way to go.
