Hisaishi made his real name Fujisawa Mori. The stage name "Hisaishi Jean" is not "native" Japanese, but comes from Hisaishi's idol, the legendary American music producer Quincy Jones.
In fact, "Hisaishi Jean" was three Japanese kanji that he chose to pronounce similarly to Quincy Jones, and then changed the word "Hisaishi" from phonetic pronunciation to training, and then changed Jō to the common English name Joe, and then had "Joe Hisaishi Hisaishi Jean", which later shook the world music scene with Quincy Jones.

Hisaishi's most well-known musical achievement is naturally his long-term collaboration with several international directors, composing and arranging film soundtracks for classic films directed by Hayao Miyazaki, Takeshi Kitano, Yoji Yamada, and Norihiko Obayashi.
The cooperation between Hisaishi Jean and Miyazaki is undoubtedly the closest.
Beginning with 1984's Nausicaä, the soundtrack of each of Miyazaki's animated feature films for more than three decades has been composed by Hisaishi, leaving fans and fans around the world with film music such as Castle in the Sky, Totoro, Spirited Away, and Howl's Moving Castle.
Years of cooperation have allowed Hisaishi and Miyazaki to achieve a certain state of "spiritual communication" in art, and when expressing the common human beauty of Miyazaki's cartoons, Hisaishi's soundtrack is always beautiful and beautiful, conveying double beauty in the combination of sound and painting.
Compared with Miyazaki's animated films, Takeshi Kitano, another director who has worked seamlessly with Hisaishi, has a stronger personal style and a wider range of subject matter.
Hisaishi was quite soft when scoring Kitano Takeshi films, but it can highlight the personality of Kitano Takeshi films very well. Hisaishi and Kitano Takeshi's main collaborative works include "That Summer, The Sea of Tranquility", "Bad Boy's Sky", "Hanabi" and "Kikujiro's Summer", etc., of which the theme music of "Kikujiro's Summer" is the most familiar to the Chinese people, even those who do not know Hisaishi Jean must have heard this beautiful melody of emerald green and refreshing at some time and place.
In fact, the soundtrack is just one side of Hisaishi's music world. Graduated from the Composition Department of the National University of Music in the early 1970s, Hisaishi graduated from the Classical Music Department, and he actually composed many symphonies and concertos in addition to film scores.
Hisaishi has been deeply influenced by minimalist music since his university days, and has conducted academic research on the works of minimalist music masters Philip Glass and Terry Riley, and the inextricable connection between minimalist music and film scores is also one of the artistic sources of Hisaishi's later career in film scoring.
In addition to many film soundtrack works Hisaishi Jean will write another version of the symphony, in recent years, Hisaishi Jean has also appeared more on the symphony performance and conducting stage, which makes the world more familiar with another aspect of the master of art.
After understanding these two aspects of Hisaishi's music, you may wish to take a look at this set of "Hisaishi Jean Classic Album Vinyl Record Set". It is not difficult to find that the seven albums cover the two aspects of his music mentioned above with the most selected tracks.
