At 4 p.m. yesterday, the CCTV Olympic Channel (CCTV-16) of the Central Radio and Television Corporation officially began broadcasting. Channel callsign: CCTV-16, referred to as CCTV Olympic Channel or CCTV Sixteen Sets.
Hosts Guo Qiang and Liu Bailing made their debuts.
Guo Qiang graduated from Shandong University of Technology with a bachelor's degree in history (2000-2004) and graduated from the School of Broadcast Hosting of Communication University of China with a double degree majoring in broadcast hosting (2004-2006). When he graduated in 2006, he was selected by CCTV for his excellent grades and entered the sports channel, and in 2012, he was rated as an outstanding employee of the CCTV sports channel.
Liu Bailing, born in 1994 in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province, with a height of 170cm, graduated from the Communication University of China majoring in broadcasting and hosting arts (2012 undergraduate). In 2014, she entered the CCTV Sports Channel as an intern, and fans gave her the nickname "680".
When the Olympic Channel was launched, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the People's Republic of China, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, sent a congratulatory letter expressing warm congratulations.
The Olympic Channel is an important result of the strategic cooperation between CCTV and the International Olympic Committee, including TV channels and digital platforms. Among them, Olympic TV Channel is the first professional sports channel in the world to broadcast simultaneously on the star in 4K ultra-high definition and high-definition standards for 24 hours.
On the day of its launch, the Olympic Channel launched special column programs with rich backgrounds, novel forms and vivid contents, such as "Chasing Ice and Snow", "Olympic People", and "Chronicle of the Five Rings", to disseminate the Olympic spirit from multiple angles such as ideology, humanities, history and art.
The official launch of CCTV16 will form a comprehensive support for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics that will be opened soon, and the broadcast of Winter Olympic events and related programs will be undertaken by the Olympic Channel.
