High-quality seeds are the basis for the growing of hairy crabs. One day in early May, technicians from kunshan fisheries station came to the crab seedling breeding farm in Rudong, Nantong, to introduce the big-eyed larvae and transport them back to Kunshan for stocking overnight. The stocked seeds include crab fry and crab seeds, crab seedlings are big-eyed larvae, and crab seeds are buckle crabs. Carefully selected big-eyed larvae are placed in the buckle crab pond, and after about 8 months of cultivation, they grow into buckle crabs in the early second year, and the button crabs grow until about October of that year and become adult crabs.

In recent years, Kunshan City has actively promoted the breeding mode of "amplifying the breeding of large crabs", paying attention to the size and quality, and the size of the parent female crabs introduced by the introduction of big-eye larvae is 4-5 pairs, and the size of the parent male crabs is 6-7 or even larger.

To improve the production and quality of crab breeding, one is to plant seedlings, the other is to cultivate good water quality, and the third is to rationally feed. In order to increase the advantages of varieties, Kunshan City vigorously introduced new high-quality river crab products, and the Municipal Fisheries Station actively cooperated with the Jiangsu Freshwater Fisheries Research Institute, the Freshwater Fisheries Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences and the Shanghai Ocean University and other scientific research units, and successively introduced and promoted the new high-quality river crabs such as "Yangtze River No. 1", "Yangtze River No. 2", "Yangcheng Lake No. 1", "Jianghai 21" and "Shenjiang No. 1", helping industrial upgrading and fishermen harvest.

In recent years, the ecological breeding model has been accepted by more and more farmers. In the process of hairy crab breeding, a series of ecological breeding technologies and measures such as aquatic plant planting, snail stocking, water quality control, density control and so on have been fully applied. In the Modern Fishery Park of Kunshan City, which takes the circulating water project as the core, the aquaculture tailwater must be discharged or recycled after three-level purification. The quality of water sources is guaranteed, the tailwater treatment has a clever trick, hairy crabs not only eat well, live better, under this condition the quality of hairy crabs bred is better, but also make Kunshan's crab industry become a new benchmark leading the development of the industry inside and outside the province.
