Guo Rongqi (February 6, 1917 – February 18, 1999)

Guo Rongqi, stage name Guo Sanyuan, originally from Taiyuan, Shanxi, was born on February 6, 1917 in Dingjia Laodian, Ximenwai, Tianjin.

Guo Rongqi's father was the famous Guo Ruilin; Guo Ruilin's teacher Chengfan had a relationship, and there was a ox fork brother Zhou Toad Zhou Deshan. Zhou Deshan is also one of the Eight Virtues of Xiangsheng, and there is a ox fork apprentice named Ma Sanli. Therefore, from the perspective of shi cheng, Guo Ruilin was Ma Sanli's uncle. Although Guo Rongqi is not from a cross-talk family, he is also from a family of super cattle.

Guo Rongqi, like Ma Sanli, lost his mother at a very young age. The difference is that Ma Sanli lost his mother at the age of 3, and then his father Ma Delu remarried; Guo Rongqi lost his mother at the age of 4, and then his father Guo Ruilin has not continued. His father, Guo Ruilin, has been running out of the docks for many years to beg for food, so Guo Rongqi has been fostered in his grandfather's house in Tianjin since he was a child.

In 1925, the 8-year-old Guo Rongqi studied art with his father Guo Ruilin's disciple Li Ruifeng, but Li Ruifeng, who was an acute son, always thought that Guo Rongqi was not talking about crosstalk material, and there was no work on his face; therefore, when Guo Rongqi was 11 years old, under Guo Ruilin's arrangement, he successfully "pushed" Guo Rongqi to Ma Delu, and Guo Rongqi worshiped Ma Delu as a teacher. Subsequently, Guo Rongqi followed Ma Delu to perform in Tianjin, Shenyang, Jinzhou and other places. Ma Delu personally taught him several passages of positive life such as "Kwa House", "Tethered Doll", "Bell Score", etc., and also taught several stand-ups such as "Antique King".

In 1935, after Ma Delu's death, his father Guo Ruilin was not around, and Guo Rongqi secretly studied with Li Jiechen, Feng Ziyu, Ma Guiyuan, Li Delin (Li Shouzeng), Ma Sanli, Liu Baorui, Zhao Peiru and others in the Lianxing Tea House. Speaking of which, this is considered to be "stealing the teacher". After studying for two years, I learned thirty or forty pieces of counterpart work, more than a dozen stand-up jokes, and also opened up a way of life, and the performance grew day by day. He inherits the traditional cross-talk performance technique and method, and the four words of handsome, fast, selling and strange are full of novelty in long-term performance practice.

For Guo Rongqi's experience of learning art, many years later, Guo Rongqi's old partner Chang Junting said: "Everyone said that he was stupid, and he didn't teach well after visiting several masters, and most of his cross-talk learning relied on 'self-study'!" He himself used to say, 'I'm a stupid bird that flies first'. ”

In 1940, he went to Beijing to enter the Qiming Tea Society, and became a pillar of the stage and the finale of the exercise. At this time, his partner was Chang Baolin.

In early 1941, Liu Baorui also joined the Qiming Tea Company and partnered with Guo Rongqi. Liu Baorui learned art early, deep skills, wide road of life, and they have been together since childhood, so the cooperation is very tacit, the performance scene is extremely hot, and the audience response is strong.

After the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he cooperated with Liu Baorui, Zhu Xiangchen, Wang Changyou, Luo Rongshou, Yu Junbo and others in Beijing and Tianjin. Guo Rongqi Zhu Xiangchen's "Theory of Playing Cards" swept the whole city of Tianjin, and some viewers said: "After listening to Guo Rongqi's cross-talk, I went out of the door to enjoy it, and when I returned home, I was happy to touch it!" At that time, Jingjin had guo Rongqi, Chang Baokun and Hou Baolin collectively known as the "three musketeers of the cross-talk world".

In 1948, he suffered from tuberculosis due to exertion.

In 1953, Tianjin established the Radio Qu Art Troupe, which he and Zhu Xiangchen joined at the same time.

In 1958, he transferred to tianjin qu art troupe.

In 1962, he was appointed as a teacher in the juvenile training class of Tianjin Quyi Troupe, and at the same time performed.

In 1966, he retired due to his physical condition. This year, he was only 50 years old. From the time he retired to his death, he lived for another 33 years. This is also the first in the cross-talk industry.

Guo Rongqi's cross-talk performance is mainly comical, and the way of life is broad, and the four skills of speaking, learning, teasing and singing are all good. The main performance programs include "Marriage and Superstition", "Playing Cards", "Learning to Comment on Drama", "Learning to Fall", "Changing Careers", "Selling Cloth Heads", "Tongue Twister", etc., stand-up "String Picking", "Carrying a Knife", "Timidly Entering Beijing", "Antique King", etc., as well as the three-person cross-talk "Pickpocket".

His works include "Little Flying Car", "Big Pipe", "Good Courtyard" and so on.

The works adapted and arranged include "Be a Good Salesman", "Nocturnal", "Watching mountain tigers" and so on.

Published articles include "My Learning Experience" and "Talking about Handsome, Fast, Selling, and Strange in Cross-Talk Performance".

Guo Rongqi is good at absorbing materials from real life and constantly enriching the performance details of cross-talk. He inherited his father's performing arts, "speaking, learning, teasing, singing", all four of which were excellent. His performance is stable and crisp, and simple and coincidental. "Stable in the storm" is to have a brittle baggage, stable and brittle. It is not violent at the beginning, often it is to lay out the burden after laying the pad and stabilizing, see the effect from the stability, and see the kung fu from the stability. Good at "inverted mouth", using dialect performance, natural and reasonable, fluent, a good performance of the character's psychological activities. His performance left a deep impression on the audience.

He was a member of the China Qu Artists Association, a director of the Tianjin Qu Artists Association, and an advisor of the Tianjin Cross-Talk Art Research Association.

He died in Tianjin in 1999. He died on December 31, 2012 at the age of 8

Among the disciples were Chang Baoting, Guo Baoming, Du Sanbao, Yang Shaohua, Xie Tianshun, and Zhang Baoru.

Yang Shaohua's teachers have always been disapproved of, but in the cross-talk genealogy compiled by Ma Sanli, Yang Shaohua was attributed to Guo Rongqi. Yang Shaohua, under the guidance of Chang Lian'an, the head of the Qiming Tea House, did have an alliance with Guo Rongqi, but he did not know it. To blame, I blame Yang Shaohua for being too poor at that time, and did not have money to ask friends in the cross-talk industry to know. But there is a saying that Guo Rongqi regretted it after promising Chang Lian'an and was unwilling to recognize this apprentice again. Just like when someone asked Yang Zhigang, "Is Guo Degang your apprentice?", Yang Zhigang ambiguously said "It is also not". Later, Yang Shaohua offended many people in Tianjin, and when he wanted to make up for it and put up the ceremony, he couldn't do it.

The cross-talk circles have always thought that Yang Shaohua is bad, and they all say that he gave Ma Sanli a hug, and because he felt insulted, he deliberately did not answer and did not turn over the baggage; he gave Ma Zhiming a hug and spilled dog blood on the ground.

Another point to say is that Guo Rongqi's apprentice Xie Tianshun once partnered with Ma Zhiming, and the two were in the Tianjin Qu Art Troupe, because the title review was contradictory, and it was cracked. The contradiction between Ma Zhiming and Xie Tianshun may also lead to a contradiction between Guo Rongqi and Ma Sanli. After all, Ma Sanli did not mention Guo Rongqi in his autobiographical articles or in interviews with others. As a disciple of Ma Delu, Guo Rongqi and Ma Sanli should be close to each other, but for many years, he never mentioned it or said a word, which could not help but make people suspect that the relationship between the two was cold.

It should also be said that Ma Sanli's cousin Ma Sili worshiped under Guo Rongqi's father Guo Ruilin, and Ma Sanli's nephew Ma Jingbo also worshiped under Guo Ruilin's eldest disciple Hou Yichen. The Guo family should be very close to the Ma family, and it is not an exaggeration to describe it as "the good of the family", but all indications show that this is not the case.

As for another of Guo Rongqi's disciples, Chang Baoting, Chang Lian'an's third son, stage name San Mushroom, there is another layer of his relationship with Guo Rongqi: Guo Rongqi is Chang Baoting's uncle, and Guo Rongqi married Chang Lian'an's sister Chang Junting.

As for Guo Rongqi marrying Chang Lian'an's sister Chang Junting, it is even more funny to say: this is an 18-year-old small mushroom Chang Baokun bao media. The 18-year-old Chang Baokun invited Guo Rong, who had returned to Tianjin for mourning, to perform at the Beijing Qiming Tea House, and introduced Guo Rongqi to his aunt Chang Junting. A year later, Guo Rongqi and Chang Junting really got married, and subsequently, Guo Rongqi also accepted three mushrooms Chang Baoting as an apprentice, and came to a kiss.
