Henry VIII lost his crown ornament, worth £2 million (RMB 17.61 million)

A few days ago, an amateur treasure hunter in Britain used a metal detector to find a jewel worth 2 million pounds (17.61 million yuan), which was an ornament on Henry VIII's lost crown and has been missing since he disappeared 400 years ago.

Kevin Duckett, 49, found the jewel as he walked through a field near Haborough Market in Northamptonshire.

Duckett said that when he first found the jewelry, he thought it was tin foil crumpled on the cake wrapper. "At the time it was stuck on the side of a hole, a few inches deep," he said. I carefully took it out, judging by its color and weight, that it was pure gold. ”

Duckett took home the jewelry with an enamel pattern and cleaned it up. When he saw that the seat was inscribed with SH, he was convinced that the nugget was the jewel in henry VI's crown.

The 2.5-inch-tall jewel is currently in the British Museum and is worth up to £2 million (17.61 million yuan).

Experts believe that it may have been Henry VI's son Charles I who passed by the site where The Jewel was found in Darkett when he fled after the Battle of Nasby, or it may have fallen off Charles I in a hurry, or it may have been his decision to bury it.

If the British Museum confirms the authenticity of the jewelry, Duckett will sell it to them at a price set by an independent commission.

The crown contains 5 decorative lilies closely related to the royal family, originally decorated with three statues of Christ, a Saint George and a Virgin Mary, as well as the infant Jesus.

Henry VIII removed the figure of Christ and replaced them with three holy kings of England: St. Edmund, Edward the Repentant, and Henry VI.

Henry VIII wore a crown at his coronation in 1509 and also when he married Anne in 1540.

Later, his children Edward, Mary and Elizabeth, as well as James I and Charles I, wore the tiara at their coronations.
