The national river crab has shown a trend of dominance, and there is a worry of overproduction. In 2019, there were 8 provinces and cities that produced crab seedlings, 19 provinces and cities that produced button crabs, and 28 provinces and cities that produced adult crabs. However, at present, the germplasm of river crab is mixed, the coverage rate of fine species is low, the coverage rate of good species of river crab is only 10%, and there are many non-selected seedlings, many small sizes, and many low-quality seed sources. Aquaculture still has a more serious problem of heavy yield and light quality, quite a large number of farmers are constantly pursuing mu yield, aquaculture output is constantly refreshed and reported, but there is less attention and requirements for quality. Since the beginning of this century, due to the establishment of ecological crab farming technology with "thinning, grass planting, snail throwing, and water diversion" as the core content, river crab diseases have hardly broken out. However, in 2019-2020, many parts of the country have once again experienced different degrees of "water deflation disease".
River crab seedling parents have been the focus of the industry's attention in recent years. The farming traits of river crabs are particularly affected by aquatic products that are significantly affected by genetic, environmental, genetic × environmental interactions. At present, there are 2 "tendencies" in production, large-size parental seedlings are "increasingly high"; breeding pursues "tall", high yield, large specification, and high efficiency. We do the protection of germplasm resources, the exchange and mixing of seedlings has never stopped, and the regional adaptability of organisms has been artificially broken for a long time. At present, several chaos in the seedling market, parental soft specifications, real weight is not up to standard, a small number of large specifications are charged with facades, small specifications are the main ones, with small filling (high specifications), doped seedlings, inverted seedlings, etc.
The direction of parental selection:
1) Choose authentic Yangtze River crab.
2) Large size parents are the mainstream.
3) Establish a scientific large-scale parental breeding system.
4) Selective breeding is the direction, and there are risks in receiving parental seedlings.
5) Establishing industrial alliances is a feasible strategy.
Since 2020, the relevant units in Shanghai have launched the breeding alliance of "Jianghai 21" to implement large-scale parental breeding (5 mothers and 7 males or more) to provide high-end seed sources for river crabs in Shanghai and the whole country. "Jianghai 21" has the characteristics of large legs, good body shape, frontal teeth and fast growth. According to experimental data, the odd-year population increased by 22.0%; the even-year population increased by 17.8%.
Effects of feed nutrition on the efficiency of river crab farming

Jiangsu's river crab production occupies half of the country, with a breeding area of 1.7 million mu and a feed capacity of about 200,000 tons for adult crabs. However, frozen fish and chilled aquaculture account for half of the annual aquaculture, and the potential for feed conversion space is very large.
Protein requirements for crabs at different growth stages: 45%-55% from larvae to big-eye larvae, 48.6% for larvae with large eyes to 0.1 g, 35%-45% for Chinese river crabs weighing more than 0.1 g, higher demand for bait protein in the early stage of growth and development, and lower than in the early stage.
Fat requirements of different growth periods of river crabs: Different growth stages, different species and different breeding environments of river crabs, there are large differences in the fat requirements of crabs, with an overall range of 3% to 9.96%. For river crab crabs, the appropriate requirements for EPA, DHA, linolenic acid and linoleic acid were 0.28%, 0.53%, 0.95% and 2.79%, respectively. The phospholipid requirement of river crab is 2-4%. Cholesterol requirements range from 0.2% to 1.5%.

Pay attention to water resistance, optimize the starch content of the product, add non-nutritive special adhesives, adopt reasonable processing technology, uniform product particles, neat incisions, and low water dissolution rate. Reasonable formula and advanced puffed granulation process have created the characteristics of Xiangda River crab feed with good food attractiveness, high digestion and absorption rate and less dust. The shell is large and rich in nutrients, which can promote the growth of river crab molting shells. The high temperature in 2016 lasted for a long time, resulting in a large reduction in the production of river crabs, crabs sinking into water, entering grass, not loving to move, and there are many water deflations. Huangmei seasonal weather should pay attention to dissolved oxygen levels, aquatic grasses, and accumulated temperature. Factors that affect changes in water temperature: aquatic weeds (selected species), algae (fertilizer), water level.
