The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, which has been in preparation for eight years, will finally open to the public on September 30. Renowned movie star Tom Hanks, Oscar Museum President Bill Kramer, American Academy of Film Arts President David Rubin, Museum Designer Renzo Piano and other guests attended the media preview on September 21, showing the exhibits in the museum for the first time. From classic film costumes and props to miyazaki Animation Exhibition, the four-story, 50,000-square-foot exhibition hall has an amazing capacity, which is a feast for the eyes, fully demonstrating the history and diversity of world cinema. In addition, for the first time, the museum has also launched the "Become an Oscar Winner" interactive experience, where visitors can hold a real Oscar winner in their hands, accompanied by applause and music from the stage, and experience first-hand what it feels like to be a winner!

The Oscar Museum, which cost $388 million and covers a total area of 300,000 square feet, has been in preparation since 2012 and has received donations from filmmakers and celebrities around the world, and will also become the world's largest film museum. The location is located at 6067 Wilshire Blvd in Los Angeles, next to the Los Angeles Museum of Modern Art (LACMA), and consists of two buildings. The front five-storey building, which consists of six different exhibition halls, a restaurant and a souvenir shop, is the main exhibition area of the museum, while the other building consists of a cinema with a capacity of 1,000 people and a giant domed balcony on the roof, which mainly hosts special events such as film premieres. The two buildings are connected by a bridge. The cinema, called David Geffen Theater, not only features state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment to play traditional 70mm films on film, but the balcony on the roof offers a view of Hollywood landmarks.

At present, the core content of the museum is called "Stories of Cinema", which displays the history of film development and the works of many famous filmmakers in several exhibition halls. It is worth noting that one of the several exhibition halls, named "Wanda Gallery", is located on the second floor and was donated by China's Wanda Film Group. The exhibition hall is very informative, including the filming history of many classic old films such as "Citizen Kane" and "The Wizard of Oz", as well as Bruce Lee-themed exhibitions, including many of his film posters, costumes and used double knuckle sticks. The "Wanda Showroom" also displays memorable costumes from movies such as "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood", "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", "Rocket Man", "City of Philharmonic" and so on. It will also give people an insight into the historical development of visual effects, sound effects, makeup, soundtracks and other technologies. In particular, there is a corridor dedicated to the impact of social events on film, such as "Black Lives Are Lives" (BLM) and what films were produced after the "MeToo" movement.

In another hall, you can see the history of the Oscars. The hall displays small gold figures donated by many winners, and takes turns playing the classic moments of the Oscar ceremony on the screen. People can also see the design changes of gold people, award envelopes and invitation letters from different periods from the beginning of the Oscars to the present. In addition, many important moments in the history of the Oscars have been displayed, such as the first Chinese director Lee Ang, the first Chinese director to win the Academy Award for Best Director, the first Korean director Bong Joon-ho, the first female director to win the Academy Award for Best Director Kathryn Bigelow, and the first African-American actress Halle Berry to win the Academy Award for Best Actress. Even the scene of the biggest oolong at the Oscars: the 2017 winner who almost mispronounced best picture is documented here.

After learning about the history of the Oscars, visitors can go to the third floor to experience for themselves what it is like to win the award. In this "The Oscars Experience," visitors are transported into a dark studio that simulates the Oscar stage, where visitors can stand on stage holding little golden men, and the screen in front of them will appear under the stage audience, and there will be music and applause. In 30 seconds, visitors can make a series of "winning" joy and surprise actions and be filmed into short videos, which will be sent to the email later.

What is most exciting for fans is that many familiar character models and props in movies break the "movie universe" here and display them side by side. For example, people can see the R2D2 and 3PO robots in "Star Wars", and next to them are the monsters in "Alien" and the aliens in "E.T.", and when you go out, you will see the shark props used in "Jaws" hanging in the air with their blood basins open. You'll also see animated characters from DreamWorks, Pixar, and Laika Studios all on display in the same room. For animation lovers, this is undoubtedly a dream come true, and it is also possible to compare the unique styles of content produced by different animation studios. Even Pixar Studios donated tables used by animators to give them a better understanding of the animation process.

When it comes to animation, the Oscar Museum currently hosts an exhibition of hayao Miyazaki's works for a limited time, which has also become a unique experience that many fans have been looking forward to for a long time. In this exhibition hall, not only many of Miyazaki's manuscripts, drawings, and animation models are included, but also scenes from his cartoons, such as a large tree erected in the exhibition hall, which simulates the magical effects of animation through lighting, and is surrounded by tree elves. Unfortunately, this exhibition hall is not allowed to take pictures, and the audience can only experience the magical feeling of walking into Miyazaki's animation. There are other retrospectives of the lives of other filmmakers in the museum, including Pedro Almodóvarar, a well-known Spanish director, and Spike Lee, an African-American director.

Tickets to the Oscar Museum are only $25 a piece, as there is still a limit on the number of people during the CORONAVIRUS period, please purchase them online in advance:
