Gossip Stephen Chow (27)/King of a Thousand Kings 2000: Break up with the past

Title: King of a Thousand Kings 2000

Released: 1999

Director: Wang Jing

Screenwriter: Wang Jing

Starring: Zhang Jiahui, Zhou Xingchi, Wang Jing, Wu Junru, Guan Xiumei

There's not much to say about the movie King of a Thousand Kings 2000, there's really nothing to say. Typical Wang Jing-style vulgar nonsense comedy, a bad film.

But this work is still very memorable.

This is the last collaboration between Chow Sing Chi and Wang Jing, two major Chinese film giants, and the last nonsense comedy starring Chow.

And according to gossip, Wang Jing offered a sky-high salary of 17 million Hong Kong dollars for shooting 10 days of dramas, and for the sake of money, Zhou Xingchi reluctantly came. As a result, Zhou Xingchi was not very cooperative, and Wang Jing was hairy, and after only one week of shooting, he gave the final payment to Zhou Xingchi, so that Zhou Xingchi did not have to come again.

Although Zhou Xingchi and Wang Jing have already had differences and rifts in terms of creative concepts and social interactions before, Zhou Xingchi should also understand that the difference between his own drama road and Wang Jing's extremely vicious indulgence of constantly copying and repeating himself is getting bigger and bigger, and according to Wang Jing's recollection, the two have often had disputes on the set, and who wants to be the dominant one; and Wang Jing once recalled that there was a time when he talked about cooperation with Zhou Xingchi, and the result was that Zhou Xingchi asked for more and more outrageous prices, and finally the cooperation was stranded, and the two were not very happy. But in "King of a Thousand Kings 2000", Wang Jing can still invite Zhou Xingchi to act - although it is for the sake of money - at least to show that at least before the film's 1999, although the two were not very happy, they had not yet reached the point of stalemate. This may be that director Wang Jing himself still belongs to the type of person who is wide-hearted and fat, and everything will pass with laughter and patience, unlike the fiery temper of cannon Du Qifeng.

But it's all over.

After "King of a Thousand Kings 2000", Wang Jing also broke with Zhou Xingchi, which turned his face. It is estimated that this time it really angered Wang Jing. Not only Wang Jing, but even the producer of this film, Long Wuxiangtai, has since turned his face with Zhou Xingchi, and has since repeatedly attacked Zhou Xingchi, twice causing a huge storm in the entertainment industry. This is not to be mentioned later.

Some people question the character of Zhou Xingchi, some people protect the image of Zhou Xingchi, this controversy is very large, we eat melon masses do not understand the enmity between these film circle bigwigs, there is no need to worry about this blind mixing. We are just movie fans, as long as there are good movies to watch, whether it is Zhou Xingchi's movie or Wang Jing's movie or the movie produced by Long Wuge Xiangtai, only a good movie is a merit, I will support. I love Stephen Chow's movies, and I even like a lot of Wang Jing's silly and happy bad films, and I also like many good movies that are not Chow Sing Chi produced by Dragon WuXiangtai.

As for the bloody and bloody love and rain of those big guys, let it go with the wind. It is not good that one day in the future, Zhou Xingchi and Wang Jing, Long Wu, and Xiang Taihui will meet and smile and have a vendetta, and suddenly announce that they will cooperate in making a new film, which is not accurate. Didn't Zhou Xingchi drink red wine with Du Qifeng a few years ago? Future events, who knows?

As for "King of a Thousand Kings 2000", it is really a bad movie, really a bad movie.

This movie also has the meaning of Wang Jing asking Zhou Xingchi to praise Zhang Jiahui. Although some fans say that Zhou Xingchi is a big match, the limelight is completely covered by Zhang Jiahui. Personally, I don't think so.

Indeed, on the whole, Zhou Xingchi's performance is only the inertia of nonsense performance, there is no breakthrough, and the impression and aura given in the film are indeed deeper than Zhang Jiahui. But Zhang Jiahui's performance in the film I personally think is very bright.

Many fans believe that Zhang Jiahui's comedies are basically bad films, and his acting career has really shown his acting skills after transforming into a series of gangsters, police bandits, and literary films.

Most of Zhang Jiahui's comedies are bad films, which I personally recognize, but Zhang Jiahui's performance in comedy is actually very wang jing-style nonsense comedy.

Zhang Jiahui in the film will play Ah Kuan as an undercover rogue, this rogue lustful, shameless, greedy, afraid of death, the performance is very good, especially if you understand Cantonese slang, the interpretation of this role is actually deep in the essence of Wang Jing's nonsense comedy character. If you leave aside the plot of the whole movie, only from the perspective of Zhang Jiahui's performance, Zhang Jiahui is deeply rooted in the essence of Wang Jing's comedy.

I'm sorry to say, in fact, I recognized Zhang Jiahui's superb acting skills from "The King of a Thousand Kings 2000", not from his later series of gangster films. At that time, I thought that Zhang Jiahui, an actor, would become a great instrument in the future.

In fact, it is certainly wrong to say that Zhang Jiahui can't act in comedy, at least he played Tang Bohu well in the TV series "Four Talents in Gold". Zhang Jiahui's problem is that he didn't really come across a good comedy script and characters, that's all.

After "King of a Thousand Kings 2000", Wang Jing continued to be fascinated by the path of vulgar nonsense comedy, and continued to concoct a large number of bad films of nonsense comedy (Zhou Runfa's "God of Gamblers 2" is an exception).

Zhou Xingchi, on the other hand, has since bid farewell to nonsense comedy, made the movies he wants to make, and has come to this day on the road of independently created personal films.
