In the memories of youth in the 80s and 90s, rock and roll may not only be anger and resistance with nothing, but also gentle. In the last decade, Lincoln Park created that seemingly heavy metal but gentle and stirring rock era, "In The End", "Burn It Down", "Numb", "New Divide"... These familiar titles can instantly awaken the auditory cells that have been sleeping for many years, but with the death of lead singer Chester Bennington in 2017, Lincoln Park may be gentle again.

Chester's sudden death dealt a heavy blow to the rest of the band, a year of grief and silence, and lead singer Mike Shinda returned after trauma to release a new album, Post Traumatic, and toured China this summer. On August 16, Mike Shinda will come to Chengdu to bring his confusion, mourning, pity and self-reflection about life and death. Prior to that, Mike Shinda was interviewed by West China Metropolis Daily and Cover News about his music, album, China tour and impressions of Chengdu.
A new album that piles up with sadness does not express sadness per se
On July 20, 2017, the band's lead singer, Shinda's best partner, Chester Bennington, was found hanging himself at home. Since then, Nobuda has given a large number of media interviews, telling the process of grief and getting out of sadness over and over again, and he has frankly said that he can refuse the interview, but he also wants to use this to "clarify what he thinks in his heart and heal his heart."
So he began writing songs in grief, shooting and editing music videos himself, and visually designing illustrations for his first solo album. Last October, the band's remaining members gave a commemorative performance at the Hollywood Bowl, the band's first and only performance since Chester's death. Between performances, Shinda created Over Again to commemorate the show and to commemorate his deceased friends. The song took only two days to create, and in an interview, Shinda mentioned that he quickly wrote the first paragraph on the day of the concert, and the second paragraph the next day and completed the recording.
"I've never done anything like this, and I write pain and mental activity into the song without reservation."
Apparently, it's an album that begins with sadness, and the 16 songs contain reflections on death, mourning for a best friend, and the confusion of life. Yet Shinda says, "It's a journey out of grief and darkness, not about sadness and darkness itself." ”
Use music to create a "diary" to record the momentary feelings
Putting our own pain into the creation, how real the feeling of that moment is, we will really feel it in Shinda's new song. Like Over Again, all the songs on the new album were written in one or two days, and Shinda confessed that he wanted to record every moment.
For him, the new set sail is like a diary or an autobiography, documenting everything that happened last year.
"Every moment, I feel very different, so when I'm making an album, I try to finish a song in a day or two."
This is completely different from the creation of the Lincoln Park period, Shinda recalls, when doing band music, often write a little and then write two or three days later, slowly adding things, a piece of work often takes a few weeks to complete.
The new attempt lies in the sudden and dramatic changes in the surrounding changes, "last year's pace of life was too fast, too much change." I think every song has that moment it represents. Mike said.
Sichuan hot pot? "I want to eat authentic food in Sichuan!"
Mike Shinda, a mixed-Race American-Japanese, is a foodie in addition to being a singer. He once revealed in an interview that he often cooks at home, and the requirements for raw materials are almost harsh, and every time he goes to Japan, he has to "hoard goods" and bring home a bunch of original sauces.
Coming to Sichuan, the hot pot is naturally not to be missed. Shinda said he had eaten hot pot in the United States, but never in Sichuan. Shinda said that to eat something, you must go to the place of origin to eat, so that it is authentic.
And mentioning Chengdu, Xintian did not accidentally say about the panda, "Cool! ”
Lincoln Park, which has been in the army for nearly 20 years, has won 5 American Music Awards, 2 Grammy Awards, 4 MTV Music Video Awards, and has been loved by many fans and fans through three consecutive "Transformers" movie theme songs, and they have sold more than 55 million albums worldwide. As a founding member of Lincoln Park, Mike Shinda is well known to the public. In addition to this singer status, Mike Shinda is a record producer, film composer and visual artist, and holds a Ph.D. from the Art Center School of Design.
