Since its establishment, the China Huaxia Cultural Heritage Foundation has been discovering, researching, protecting, inheriting and promoting China's tangible cultural heritage and intangible cultural heritage on a global scale with the principle of "awakening citizens' awareness and responsibility for protecting cultural heritage". The East Thousand Buddha Cave, known as the Western Xia murals with rich content and exquisite skills, is a great contribution to Chinese Buddhist art, the highest achievement of Western Xia Buddhist art, and has an important historical position in the history of Chinese culture and the history of Buddhist art. However, due to its remote location and inconvenient transportation, Dongqian Buddha Cave has long been little known to the outside world. Although it was listed as a national key cultural relics protection unit as early as 1996, for many years it has only relied on the "management" of an elderly couple over the age of flower nails, resulting in serious damage to the ruins.
In order to repair and protect the East Thousand Buddha Cave, the China Huaxia Cultural Heritage Foundation and the Sanlian Art Institution jointly organized the public welfare auction and held a press conference in the Zhejiang Provincial Press Conference Hall on September 19. In order to successfully hold the auction activities, Sanlian Art Institution searched for and selected contemporary artists from different fields such as calligraphy and painting, sculpture, embroidery, pottery and other fields to participate in the auction nationwide, and began in early October, successively publicized the importance of protecting traditional culture and the necessity of rescuing the Dongqian Buddha Cave in ten cities such as Hangzhou, Shanghai, Ningbo and Nanchang, and sincerely invited people from all walks of life who love traditional culture, have love and social responsibility to participate in the public welfare auction.
In this regard, Gu Xiaodong, chairman of Sanlian Art Institution, expressed the hope that with the help of this public welfare auction activity, the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's speech of "representing the style of the times, leading the atmosphere of the times, condensing China's strength, and realizing the Chinese dream" will be implemented, and the historical mission and responsibility of contemporary artists will be guided to create more outstanding works worthy of the times. Sanlian and the Huaxia Cultural Heritage Foundation share common values and concepts, and will, as always, take the dissemination of Chinese culture as their own responsibility, take the people of the world to advocate Chinese culture as their mission, uphold the concept of inheritance, innovation and rejuvenation, awaken the consciousness of the Chinese people, and carry forward the Chinese civilization.
