
Live Bar, July 11, 2019 Suns coach Monty Williams was interviewed by the media today, in which he talked about his two leaders on the road to becoming a manager.
Monti played for the Magic in the 99-02 season when the team was coached by Rivers.
"When I was a player, I never thought I would one day become manager. But toward the end of my career, Magic's then-coach Rivers said to me, 'You're going to be part of the league managers,' and I thought Rivers was crazy. But then Popovich opened a door for me, and the story began. Monty said.
Although Monty Williams did not serve as Popovich's assistant, he played for the Spurs for three seasons.
