Recently, a blogger shared a group of Chernobyl "punch card" photos on social platforms, which aroused the attention of netizens. Some people questioned the blogger's behavior of not wearing protective clothing, and believed that it may cause misunderstanding and attract more people to go unprotected; others said that the photos taken by the blogger increased the understanding of Chernobyl.
In 2019, the Ukrainian government announced the opening of the Chernobyl quarantine zone to the outside world to create a "green corridor" as a sightseeing channel. However, visitors need to sign a statement promising to wear long clothes and trousers, not to touch any objects in the quarantine area, and not to have any contact with the ground, grass, trees and buildings. This shows that there is no mandatory requirement to wear protective clothing at all times in the quarantine area, and the accident area is relatively safe.
The environment of our daily life is full of radiation. A small amount of radiation exposure will not endanger human health, and excessive radiation exposure will cause harm to the human body. For example, in the Chernobyl radiation of the Internet celebrity punch point - Ferris wheel, for the sake of personal health, there is indeed a need to wear protective clothing. Bloggers also responded that most of the time they wear protective clothing and will look for places with low radiation values to wear civilian clothes to take pictures. Therefore, whether to wear protective clothing is no longer a technical problem, but a choice made by every adult who visits his or her own life and health. If you really want to die, it is also self-inflicted.
The Chernobyl accident was the worst accident in the history of the peaceful use of nuclear energy by mankind. The tragedy left not only 31 people dead on the spot, but also 170,000 within a decade. For more than three decades, intractable diseases caused by overdoses of radiation have tormented countless people.
With the popularity of related American dramas, the scenic spot has attracted tourists from all over the world to punch in. Among them, some tourists deliberately take photos of naked clothes and behavior in order to attract attention. Although there are multiple considerations behind Ukraine's opening of the accident area to ordinary people, for many survivors, the former nuclear forbidden area has become the "traffic password" of some people, and sadly becoming the "Internet celebrity punch card" of others, which is tantamount to sprinkling salt on the wound. The frivolous approach of some tourists is not only the consumption of human tragedy, but also the elimination of the opening of the accident area to let the world understand the tragedy and remember the significance of the tragedy.
Therefore, netizens argue that the blogger hits Kachernobyl, the core question is actually not whether to wear or not to wear protective clothing, but in such a tragic place, what should be done and what should not be done. It examines our attitude toward human catastrophe. Just as some netizens said, if foreigners go to the Wenchuan earthquake site and the Memorial Hall of the Nanjing Massacre of the Japanese Army invading China in this way, how will we feel about the disaster?
The serious consequences of disasters may have borders, but in the face of disasters, human sorrow and joy should be common. The tragedy of life and the catastrophe of civilization are not an opportunity to rub hot spots and watch the hilarity. Only by remembering the disaster, reflecting on the disaster, and having compassion and reverence for the pain of mankind can we avoid repeating the mistakes of the past.
Do the right thing in the right place, at the right time. Even if we cannot fully empathize with the tragedies experienced by others, if we cannot fully understand the disaster, at least we must maintain respect for the victims of the disaster, which is a basic quality that each of us should have.
