Beijing, 24 Oct (Reporter Ding Yiting) Reporters learned from the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development that in the first nine months of this year, 51,200 old urban communities were newly started nationwide, accounting for 94.8 percent of the annual target task. Among them, the areas where all the planned tasks have been started this year include Shanghai, Anhui, the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, Henan, Shandong, Hebei, Jiangsu, Heilongjiang, Xinjiang, Jiangxi, Jilin, Gansu, Qinghai, and Hainan.

The transformation of old urban communities is a major people's livelihood project and development project. This year's "Government Work Report" proposes that "53,000 old residential areas in cities and towns have been newly started and renovated." Among them, Shanghai plans to implement a higher level of renovation of 50 million square meters of various types of old housing during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period; Anhui has released a project to promote the transformation of old residential areas in a market-oriented manner in 2022. According to reports, during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, China will basically complete the transformation of 219,000 old urban communities built before the end of 2000.
