Since 1967, when the International Children's Book Alliance designated Hans Christian Andersen's birthday as "International Children's Book Day", every year on April 2, he will be reborn in the reading of countless children around the world.
Born into a poor family of shoemakers in Odense, Denmark, Andersen studied for a few years at a charity school and then apprenticed to make ends meet. But under the influence of his father and folk oral literature, he loved literature from an early age and liked literary creation. During his apprenticeship as a shoemaker, he also did not forget to create literature and constantly told it to the children, so that the children were fascinated by the stories and did not want to go to school. In order not to let him "mislead" the children again, Andersen was asked to leave his hometown and was not allowed to tell stories to the children.
Hans Christian Andersen, who was only 14 years old at the time, came to Copenhagen alone with his literary ambitions and artistic dreams and began a one-man dream journey. He spent his life in fairy tales and never married. Weaving fairy tales seems to have been a mission given to Hans Christian Andersen, who irreplaceably became the greatest children's writer of the 19th century and was hailed as the "sun of children's literature in the world".
This is probably why the International Children's Book Alliance has designated Hans Christian Andersen's birthday as International Children's Book Day. On such a special day, I would also like to share with you this Andersen autobiographical film "Andersen".

This classic children's film, shot in 1952, details how Hans Christian Andersen became a budding writer in a way that readers can imagine. Only by understanding the world more will we love it more deeply. As I interpretEd Andersen more through images and words, I understood more about why the three words Ofersen have so much weight in the hearts of generations of children and adults around the world, and of course, I loved Andersen even more.
Of course, readers all over the world love Hans Christian Andersen, so the International Children's Book Alliance established the "International Hans Christian Andersen Prize" in 1956, which is known as the Nobel Prize in children's literature and the highest honor of children's literature. The "Hans Christian Andersen Illustrator Award" that I want to talk about today was established in the reconstruction period of women's and children's education after World War II, and most of the grand prize winners have experienced war and oppression, and deeply realize that children are the biggest victims of war. Therefore, the illustrators explore the theme of life with the children through their illustrations, which is of far-reaching significance. The beauty of humanity they show in their lines and colors is also more compassionate, peaceful, fraternal, and kind.
Today, I also share a few Hans Christian Andersen Illustration Award works, just like an artistic exploration, illustrators' new forms of creation, or can touch the hearts of children, or change our new perception of things. Illustration is also the soul of a book, reading picture books, from the exquisite illustrations to learn both language, but also get the influence of beauty, think about it is happy.

Where the wild things are
A place where wild beasts haunt
The author, Maurice Sandak, is the eternal King of the Beast Nation, and was the first American to win the Hans Christian Andersen Illustration Award.
The story of his "Beast Country" is strange, the illustrations are very imaginative, the picture and the text are perfectly integrated, it is easy for children to feel frightened, but at the same time feel happy and excited.
For the interpretation of "Beast Country" and many children's book works have a detailed introduction, the most praised is professor Peng Yi's classic book "World Picture Book Reading and Classics" interpretation, here will not be repeated, today we will focus on appreciating the original English version of this book.

Willy the Dreamer
Willie the Dreamer
The author, Anthony Brown, is probably the best illustrator in the world of picture books. Most of his works come from real life experiences, and as the experience becomes more rounded, it is often used as a life teaching material for children.
Willy the gorilla is Brown's most classic and popular character, like a spokesperson for children's psychological emotions, and in orangutan-themed works, children can always find emotional resonance such as anger, sadness or joy.
Sometimes Willie dreams of being a movie star.
Or a ballet dancer, Willie dreamed.
Sometimes Willie dreams that he is a beggar.

Good night moon
"Moon, Good Night"
Author Margaret Whites Brown, a pioneer in American children's literature, a talented odd woman, her works have been a classic, and they have always been a bestseller. But this is the only good picture book that can really be seen from 0 years old to 99 years old.
The content does not need to be introduced much, the key is to read the map. Warm and idyllic green room, the little rabbit and every beautiful object in the room to say goodnight, quiet and poetic.
Almost every painting is as good as the tone and style of the picture above, so close to the atmosphere of the night, close to the mood of the child, almost as a bedtime storybook for each child.

So, we should learn to understand these illustrations from different perspectives until we begin to fall in love with them from the bottom of our hearts and begin to understand them. ”
With a childlike heart, she often transforms images from a medium for conveying information into a fun object that children can experiment with and interact with. Published in 1992, the book claims to be the most beautiful book in the world.
