Wang Yi: China in the New Era: Xiong'an Exploring the Future City of Human Development

Dear guests and friends,

Good afternoon! First of all, I would like to extend a warm welcome to Secretary Wang Dongfeng, Governor Xu Qin and all my friends from Hebei Province!

Today's global pitch is unique. Because the protagonist is not a province, but Xiong'an New District. If the "Shenzhen Speed" of the 1980s and the "Pudong Miracle" of the 1990s witnessed the glorious course of China's rapid development, then the Xiong'an New Area in the new era will become a national model for China's future high-quality development.

A year ago, the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core announced the establishment of the Xiong'an New Area, emphasizing that this is a millennium plan and a major national event.

In April this year, the "Planning Outline of Hebei Xiong'an New Area" was released to the whole society, marking that the construction of Xiong'an New Area has entered the stage of full implementation.

The planning outline clarifies the development positioning of Xiong'an New Area, that is, a green ecological livable new urban area, an innovation-driven development leading area, a coordinated development demonstration area, and an open development pilot area. Xiong'an New Area represents the future of China, leads the trend of the world, and also indicates the future direction of human development.

The establishment of Xiong'an New Area is a major decision for China to deepen reform, and a large number of reform and innovation measures in line with the future development direction will be tried first in Xiong'an, providing a "Chinese solution" for solving the disease of big cities, and striving to find a new path that can be copied and promoted.

The construction of Xiong'an New Area adheres to the world vision, international standards, Chinese characteristics and high-point positioning, and has distinct characteristics of the times and world significance. The new district plan was open to bidding around the world, with the active participation of 279 institutions from 18 countries and regions, bringing together the wisdom of 12 world-class teams. The next step of construction of Xiong'an New Area will also attract more international talents, technologies, funds and projects, opening up new space and providing new impetus for mutually beneficial cooperation between China and other countries.

The construction of Xiong'an New Area adheres to the people-centered concept, pays attention to the mutual coordination of the three major spaces of production, life and ecology, and pins on the common dream of harmonious development of mankind and the city. I hope that envoys and friends of all countries will pay attention to Xiong'an, support Xiong'an, participate in the construction of Xiong'an, and join hands with the city of the future to achieve win-win cooperation.

Finally, I would like to say that Xiong'an New Area is the first "enhanced version" of the Foreign Ministry's promotion activities. In the future, we will continue to promote China's local provinces and cities, and at the same time introduce more of China's major measures to deepen reform, helping everyone to observe China from multiple angles and perceive China in an all-round way. I hope that the envoys will continue to participate enthusiastically.
