The 1968 Mustang GT Fastback from the movie "Police Net Iron King Kong" sold at auction for $3.7 million, equivalent to 25.37 million yuan, the most expensive Mustang ever.

The classic coupe was the only surviving of two 1968 Ford Mustangs used in the filming, and at auction the one was personally driven and performed by lead actor Steve McQueen with some stunts, and the other was damaged and scrapped due to filming stunt scenes. After the film was made, the car was bought by an employee of Warner Bros. The employee drove the car again after a year.
Six years later, Robert Kiernan saw the Mustang in an auto magazine ad and found the body solder joints used to set up camera parts in the car, thought it was a vehicle used in the filming, and bought it. Although Steve McQueen twice tried to buy back the car he drove in the film, Kiernan didn't want to sell it. The Mustang was owned by Kiernan from 1974 until his death in 2014.
After Ford released its first Hyundai Mustang in 2001 inspired by the classic Mustang. The Robert Kiernan family decided to repair the car. The family was wise enough to keep the car as it was during the restoration process, such as the fixing points of the camera brackets used for film shooting, and the damaged dent repair marks caused by the movie chasing scenes.
Propelled by Steve McQueen, the 1968 Mustang GT Fastback sold for $3.7 million and has now become the most valuable Mustang of all time. Robert bought the car for just $6,000 that year, a full 616-fold increase. (Text: Pacific Auto Network Zhou Congying News source: leftlanenews.com)
