On the evening of January 14, the "17th French Film Screening (Guangzhou Station)" hosted by the French Film Alliance (UniFrance) and co-organized by the French Embassy in China opened in Guangzhou. The French film exhibition Guangzhou Station will bring 7 French film feature films such as "A Big Drama" and "Good Dream Day Trip" to friends in South China, bring more and better French films to China through the screening activities, and also introduce Chinese culture to French filmmakers.

In the evening, Zhou Lijun, Consul General of France in Guangzhou, Zheng David, Secretary General of Guangdong Film Industry Association, Shi Tingting, General Manager of Broadway Cinema Guangzhou-Foshan Region, as well as consular officials from Uganda, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy and the United States, as well as a number of film fans and friends attended and witnessed the opening ceremony of Guangzhou Station.

The film premiered at the opening ceremony was The Truth by renowned Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda, which was nominated for the Golden Lion Award at the 76th Venice Film Festival in 2019. The two French actresses in the film, Catherine Deneuve and Juliet Binoche, are european performing artists familiar to Chinese audiences.

According to the organizers, seventeen years have passed since the first French film exhibition was held in 2004. Over the past seventeen years, filmmakers who have come to China through French film screenings include film stars such as Sophie Marceau, Jean Renault, Melville Popo, Virginie Ladoyan, famous directors such as Claude Lelouch, Lauren Guntai, Philippe Garrell, and important Leaders of the French film industry such as Jerome Saidu, President of EMI. They not only brought wonderful French films to Chinese film fans, but also introduced Chinese culture to France, so that the strategic partnership between China and France in the field of film has developed steadily year by year.

Zhou Lijun, Consul General of France in Guangzhou, said in her speech at the opening ceremony that French films are well received by Chinese audiences, and the "seventh art" of film has always established a close connection between The two countries and the two cultures of China and France. The opening film "The Truth", a multicultural film that retains its unique imprint, is enriched by the contributions of foreign teams, more deeply depicting the bonds between all those who contact us.

Zheng David, secretary general of the Guangdong Film Industry Association, also said in his speech at the opening ceremony that France is the country that has created films, and has produced many realistic and romantic film works with European and French characteristics for more than a hundred years.

From January 14, 2021 to January 29, 2021, Guangzhou Paragon Cinemas Liedigc Store and Tianhuan Store will screen 7 wonderful French film works with a total of 28 performances.
