Jiuxian Mountain is located 18.5 kilometers north of Qufu City, because the shape of the mountain is like a koshi, called Koshi mountain in northern Qi, and because the nine immortals mountain has nine peaks, it is also called the Nine Immortals Mountain and the Nine Peaks Mountain. The Jiuxian Mountain Conservation Area includes more than 20 hills including Phoenix Mountain, Phoenix City, Huashan Mountain, Longshan Mountain and QihuDong Mountain. The highest peak, Phoenix, is 548.1 meters above sea level, and the main peak of Jiuxian Mountain is 460 meters above sea level.
The Jiuxian Mountain is high in the north and low in the south, with the Jiuxian Tianchi in the central and western parts, and the grain ship stone reservoir in the southwest. The area around Jiuxian Mountain and Phoenix Mountain belongs to the same structural unit as Shimen Mountain, and its composition and evolutionary history are basically the same as those of Shimen Mountain. Since archaic times, it has experienced sedimentary, volcanic, metamorphic and magmatic intrusion processes. In the long process of geological evolution, it has undergone many tectonic movements and weathering, forming a modern geological landscape.
Jiuxian Mountain is densely forested, fragrant flowers and fruits, full of vitality and picturesque scenery, and the resources of tree species, wild plants and wild animals are relatively rich. A total of 156 species of trees, shrubs and economic trees, 110 species of wild grasses, 58 species of birds and more than 10 species of forest beasts have been identified. In spring, the flowers bloom and the forest is like snow; in summer, the air is fresh and the birds are shuttled; in the autumn, the fragrance is flowing in all directions and the fruits are fruitful...
Jiuxian Mountain is a famous Taoist mountain between Taiyi and Yi. As early as the eighth year of the Qing Kangxi Dynasty (1669), Kong Yuxi, the Duke of Yansheng, presided over the construction of several ancient buildings on the Nine Immortals Mountain, so that "the Three Qings have views, the Jade Emperor has a pavilion, the Queen Mother has a palace, Guanyin has a hall, and the mountain gods have a shrine". In the years that followed, these ancient buildings underwent reconstruction and expansion, but after several disasters, these Qiongge temples gradually disappeared, and now only the one-day gate, the old site of the second heavenly gate, the south heavenly gate, the Bixia Temple and other ancient buildings remain.
