At the selection meeting, 9 judges conducted a comprehensive evaluation of 61 peach samples selected by peach farmers, and finally selected 1 "Peach King", 1 Best "Face Value" Award, 1 Best Flavor Award, 10 Gold Awards, and 20 Silver Awards.

Zhao Yiren said that some consumers who like to eat sweets love the bite of peach, so every year in the "peach season", many consumers come to taste it. In recent years, thanks to the rapid development of logistics and cold chain industries, Yangshan peach, which is known for its "sweetness", has slowly gone out of Wuxi and gone to the whole country.

What kind of peach is the best to eat? What is the standard of "Peach King"? At the peach "Peach King" selection meeting, experts evaluated the samples by smelling the fragrance, looking at the shape, looking at the color, etc., and then combining the fruit taste, flesh, juice, core and other elements.
"Consumers are most concerned about whether the peach is sweet or not, whether it has aroma, whether it is astringent to eat, in a word, whether it is good or not." Jiang Quan, chief scientist of the national peach industry technology system, said that the results of this selection were evaluated according to the external image and internal quality of peaches.

"The external image is relatively simple, that is, to see whether the fruit shape and color of the peach are uniform; the inner quality, that is, the colloquial taste, the judges have eaten countless peaches, and they will choose the peaches that they think are good." Jiang Quan explained that in the peach "Peach King" selection meeting, 9 review experts scored the fruit shape and taste of 61 peach samples.
In the end, the Lake View selected by Tang Weijin of Taoyuan Village, Yangshan Town won the title of "Peach King" of 2021 Yangshan Peach, the Middle Lake View selected by Wuxi Taoguanyuan Peach Professional Cooperative won the Best Flavor Award, the Lake View selected by Bojie Peach Plantation in Luoshe Town, Huishan District won the Best "Appearance" Award, 10 units or individuals such as Wuxi Yangshan Taoyuan Peach Co., Ltd. won the Gold Award, and 20 units or individuals such as Zhou Xingrong of Yangshi Community in Luoshe Town won the Silver Award.

Jiang Quan told reporters that in the selection, some experts found that some samples look very good, but they are not sweet in the mouth. Therefore, this "Yangshan Peach King Selection Meeting" attaches importance to "appearance" and pays more attention to "connotation".
Another expert participating in the selection said that the overall quality of the peaches sent this year has improved greatly compared with previous years, with good fruit shape, suitable size and good color.
At the same time, the peach "Peach King" selection meeting also held the third high-end seminar on the development of China's traditional peach industry. Dai Zheng, deputy mayor of Huishan District, introduced at the meeting that the district has always attached great importance to the development of the Yangshan peach industry. At present, the planting area of Yangshan peach in the district is 35,000 mu, with an annual output value of 630 million yuan.
