On September 3, the Kunming Municipal Bureau of Market Supervision and Administration (hereinafter referred to as the Market Supervision Bureau) said that since mid-August, the Market Supervision Bureau has carried out special supervision and sampling of mid-autumn mooncakes and law enforcement inspections in Kunming. The staff supervised and inspected 115 mooncake production and operation units in Kunming, and sampled 212 batches of mid-autumn mooncakes, covering all aspects of food production, circulation and catering in 19 counties (cities) and development parks in Kunming. After inspection, 212 batches of samples qualified 208 batches and unqualified 4 batches, with a pass rate of 98.11%. The unqualified 4 batches of samples were not up to standard in terms of quality and safety indicators (3 batches of acid price exceeding the standard, 1 batch of peroxide value exceeding the standard). The unqualified products inspected by this sampling have been instructed by the market supervision and management department of the jurisdiction to recall the enterprises in accordance with the law, take measures such as removing the shelves and recalling the unqualified products to control the risks, and at the same time file and investigate the production of unqualified products by the enterprises involved in the case according to law.

In addition, in response to the "premature mooncakes" reported by the public, the administrative law enforcement brigade of the Yiliang County Market Supervision and Administration Bureau conducted a surprise inspection of the Yiliang Jinsanren Food Factory located in Jiangtou Village, Baohong Village, Kuangyuan Subdistrict, Yiliang County. After investigation, the factory produced a total of 630 Wuren mooncakes marked with false production dates on September 5 (already sold on August 30), and 70 were sold in stores in its production area. At present, the Yiliang County Market Supervision and Administration Bureau has filed a case against the factory on September 1, and the case is being handled.

The Market Supervision Bureau reminds consumers that consumers who have purchased the same batch (the same production date) of the unqualified mooncakes can apply for consumer rights protection from the original purchase point with the relevant vouchers of purchase, or directly apply for consumer rights protection from the production enterprises through the telephone of the production enterprises on the product label.

★ Tips

When shopping for mooncakes, don't forget to look at the ingredient list

Purchase and save the corresponding shopping vouchers through formal and reliable channels, and see the relevant marks on the outer packaging, such as production date, shelf life, producer name and address, ingredient or ingredient list, food additives, food production license number, etc. Whether the identification is complete; check whether the packaging is complete or whether the vacuum packaging is leaking flatulence bags, bulk mooncakes have not deteriorated; do not buy products without factory name, factory address, production date and shelf life, and do not buy products that exceed the shelf life.

Note that mooncakes are made from grain flour such as wheat flour or vegetable flour, oil, sugar (or unsweetened) and other raw materials, and are processed with multiple ingredients as fillings. There are many kinds of mooncakes, and the types of ingredients for crust making and filling are not the same. If the ingredients contain foods and products that may cause allergies (such as gluten-containing cereals and their products, peanuts and their products), etc., the manufacturer may (but not necessarily) use an easily recognizable name in the ingredient list, or indicate it in the vicinity of the ingredient list. Sensitive people need to carefully read the ingredient list and whether there are relevant hints in the vicinity when selecting or eating mooncakes.

Consumers should choose to eat according to the nutrient reference value of the nutrition facts list of mooncakes and their own physical condition. The energy, fat and carbohydrates in the mooncake are high, and it is not easy to overdose, otherwise it is easy to cause gastrointestinal discomfort, especially for the elderly, children, and those with weak gastrointestinal function.

Be sure to pay attention to the storage conditions indicated on the food label of the mooncake, and pay attention to the production date and shelf life of the mooncake. Store the mooncakes strictly according to the storage conditions of the mooncakes, and do not eat the mooncakes that have exceeded the shelf life.
