In a group of lanes in Xiongfeng Village, on the west side of the Three Kingdoms Ancient Battlefield in Danyang City, Hubei Province, next to Xiongfeng Avenue, there is a well called "NiangniangJing". It is said that it was Liu Bei's lady Mi who sacrificed her life to take righteousness.

In September of the thirteenth year of Jian'an (208), Cao Cao raised an army to the south and defeated Liu Bei at Changbanpo in Danyang, Hubei. Liu Bei, Zhuge Liang, Zhang Fei, and dozens of others fled on horseback, and Zhao Yun and Liu Bei's Lady Gan, Lady Mi, and their youngest son Ah Dou were also scattered by the rebel army.
Zhao Yun desperately rushed to kill Cao Jun, and finally found Ah Dou's birth mother, Lady Gan, and escorted her out to Liu Bei. After that, he reflexively rushed into the enemy camp to find Lady Mi and Ah Dou, who was swaddled in the middle.

At night, Lady Mi, who was shot in the left leg, hid in her arms under a small arched bridge made of bricks, which was later known as the "Prince Bridge" (now a municipal cultural relics protection unit). It was damp under the bridge, the cold was compelling, and in the middle of the night, a north wind suddenly blew, and the cold wind went straight to the bridge hole, so cold that Ah Dou couldn't stand it.

Lady Mi had to come out from under the arch bridge with Ah Dou in her arms, go to find a shelter from the wind, and walked five or six hundred steps to the west, finding a broken wall that had been destroyed by fire, and there was a dry well next to the wall. This truncated wall just blocked the north wind, and Lady Mi sat under the wall with Ah Dou in her arms.

The next day, I found the side of the earthen wall and saw Madame Mi holding Ah Dou, sitting by the dry well under the wall, and hurriedly got off her horse and knelt down. When Lady Mi saw Zhao Yun come to her rescue, she cried and said, "Concubines have to see the general, Ah Dou has been saved!" "
Zhao Yun hurriedly asked Lady Mi to get on his horse and walk on his own, while Lady Bao and Ah Dou broke through the siege. Lady Mi said, "A general must not be without horses. Otherwise, no one can save it. You better save Ah Dou! Poor father wandered for half a lifetime, with only this little bit of flesh and blood. The general saved Ah Dou, and the concubine died without complaint! "

Lady Mi saw that Zhao Yun could not bear to leave, and said resolutely: "The concubine has been seriously injured, and it is not a pity to die, the general should go quickly, it is important to save Ah Dou!" Saying, taking advantage of Zhao Yun's lack of preparation, he put Ah Dou on the ground and turned over and threw himself into the well.

Overview of Niangniangjing
After that, the dry well was called "Niangniangjing" by people, and there was a "MiHou Ancestral Hall" (Niangniang Temple) built next to the well. Due to its age and erosion, the Temple has gradually been destroyed, but the "Niangniang Well" is now an ancient well that does not dry up, often overflows, and the water is as clear as a mirror.
In 2011, "Niangniangjing" was selected as the fourth batch of cultural relics protection units in Yichang City, and is now under the jurisdiction of The Niangniangmiao Community of The Yuquan Office of Dangyang City.
