Whether the subject matter of Chen Yanning's works is taken from his hometown of China or the West where he lives abroad, chen Yanning's works open up a vision that truly transcends cultural boundaries and transcends space. Whether in the choice of subject matter, or in the self-conscious lyricism he has when completing the idea of the subject matter, it shows the Chinese technique training he has received. Western audiences often marvel at the precision of his pictures and the ability to draw, and even more admire the exquisite oriental charm that his works penetrate.

"Chen Yanning's art truly transcends culture and history, and contains a cosmic and eternal message. He never accepted the temptation of the impersonal abstract art that had prevailed in his youth, and has always adhered to the humanistic values of his national tradition. Today, realism has been re-embraced by the art world and in many ways has reproduced its enduring charm to art lovers. Chen's realism does not belong to philippe Palfenstein's rough and cold figurative school, nor to the mechanical photographic realism of fashionable painters like Richard Este. His realism carries with it a sensitivity, a sensitivity to the characteristics of the Romantic worldview. And his impeccable treatment of light and perspective, his shocking and imaginative composition, and his insight into the charm of the object he paints, all tell people that this is a solid and perfect aesthetic combination, a horizon that transcends space.
