In the past few days, the Huangpu District Cultural Palace has ushered in a special exhibition of paintings - the military merit medals of volunteer veterans, the enamel water cups used by soldiers during the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, and the moment when the revolutionary martyr Fang Zhimin was righteous... The authors of these paintings include well-known painters, teachers with professional backgrounds, and ordinary students.

"Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China and the 5th Anniversary of the Establishment of gezhi oil painting creation base" The exhibition of teachers' and students' fine art works opened here, and the exhibition included nearly 50 oil paintings created by Gezhi teachers and students, accounting for 57% of the total number of exhibits.
"What I have painted is a military uniform, which belongs to a veteran, a veteran of the Chinese Volunteer Army of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, and the flashing medals show his outstanding military merits." At the exhibition, Guo Xinyi, a student in the 8th class of the Fengxian Campus of Gezhi Middle School, was introducing her paintings to everyone, and she said that she did not know much about the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea before, which led to her not being able to paint the solemn and old feeling of the first draft. "Later, I consulted the relevant history books, and with the help of Teacher Zhao and his classmates from the Gefeng Oil Painting Society, I learned that in this three-year war, more than 300,000 heroic models such as Yang Gensi and Qiu Shaoyun emerged in the volunteer army, and this war has created China's national and military prestige and enhanced China's international status, and the victory in this war was won by the Communist Party of China and the brave and resolute Chinese people." Guo Xinyi said that while learning from that exciting history, she created paintings, "When I picked up the pen again and painted this medal, I deeply felt the red heart behind it that had the courage to assume the responsibility of the times and patriotic enthusiasm." The process of painting this time is also the process of understanding and familiarizing myself with the history of the party and the state, which made me more deeply understand that as a middle school student in the new century, we must not forget the glory days of the past, but should bravely shoulder the mission and responsibility of the new era. ”
At the scene of the exhibition, the fourth grade of Cao Guangbiao Primary School and the students of the first grade of Shanghai Gezhi Middle School jointly carried out a theme education activity, and Yu Xiaofu, the dean of the School of Fine Arts of Shanghai Normal University and a painter, explained to the children the creation story of the painting "Fang Zhimin": "This work was painted by me many years ago, painting a moment before the revolutionary martyr Fang Zhimin took the righteousness..."
In 2015, the School of Fine Arts of Shanghai Normal University , Gezhi Oil Painting Creation Base opened in the Fengxian Campus of Gezhi Middle School. As an important measure for the school to introduce high-quality academic resources from colleges and universities, popularize elegant art, and cultivate young artistic talents, since its establishment five years ago, Gezhi Oil Painting Creation Base has regularly organized oil painting masters to enter the campus, carried out oil painting creation guidance and oil painting exhibitions, and simultaneously opened oil painting creation elective courses in the Huangpu and Fengxian campuses of Gezhi Middle School, which was deeply loved by students, and set off a wave of advocating art and educating people with beauty on the Gezhi campus, and cultivated a number of oil painting students and a group of art lovers for the school.
In each subsequent year, Gezhi Middle School will hold various exhibitions from time to time, each with a different theme.
Understanding the story of the revolution and then painting with your own hands is the significance of this exhibition. "Our teaching goal has always been to closely link students' artistic creation with the current life, and this year coincides with the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party, so our curriculum is also combined with party history education, and there are some innovations in figure painting, landscape painting, still life painting, copying, etc. Zhao Yuqian, the instructor of the Gezhi Oil Painting Creation Base, said that when painting still lifes, students are no longer allowed to paint bottles and jars as usual, but old objects, and the red army's straw shoes, straw hats, and water bottles have become the students' creative content, "For example, painting character paintings is also looking for real characters in the history of the party to paint, and landscape paintings are red buildings." Zhao Yuqian said that in the process of creation, students also deeply understood the history behind these red themes.
This exhibition brings together nearly 100 outstanding art works created by well-known painters from the Academy of Fine Arts of Shanghai Normal University, the Huangpu District Artists Association, the Fengxian District Artists Association and other units, as well as teachers and students of Gezhi Middle School.
