Shangshu accused him of impeaching officials for being too indiscriminate and excessive, and suspected him of pretending to be a public servant and declaring a personal vendetta.
In this regard, Fan Huan directly replied with 16 words: the farmer goes to the grass, Jia Gu Bimao, the loyal subjects eliminate adultery, and the king is clean.
Translated into the vernacular, I have heard that farmers must hoe grass so that crops can flourish; loyal subjects must get rid of adultery, and the king's way can be pacified.
