As the highest honor award of Chinese drama, "Lifetime Achievement Dramatist of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles" is evaluated by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the China Dramatists Association every two years. I often think that I am fortunate not to be a film actor. This is not to say that I despise movies, film shooting is limited by various technical conditions, and the scale and vocabulary of actors' creations are far less free and broad and full of imagination than on the stage. ”
Jiao Huang's father, who graduated from Yenching University and served at the central bank at the time during the War of Resistance Against Japan, once recalled, "I was born in Beijing, and after the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, my mother took us from Beijing to Chongqing to join my father. At that time, Chongqing gathered the most important drama artists in the country. His father disapproved of Jiao Huang as an actor and was bent on having his only son study science and engineering. However, Jiao Huang was admitted to the acting department of the Shanghai Theater Academy in 1955. The Soviet teacher Ye Kang Lepkovskaya, who taught the play, gave the class a set of blocks, "The child is the most sincere when he plays with blocks to run a family, not for the audience, not for the opponent, just to play his own game." She asked the students to open their eyes every day to be in the play. In 1959, after graduating, Jiao Huang entered the Shanghai Youth Repertory Theatre (later merged into the Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center), starring in a series of stage works such as "Nothing Happens", "Anthony and Cleopatra", "Fighting Youth", "Red Room, White Room, Black Room", "Qin Wang Li Shimin", "Wife from the United States", "Zhenghong Flag" and so on. In 2012, the 76-year-old Jiao Huang rehearsed the 1984 Shakespeare drama "Anthony and Cleopatra", with a 3-hour performance that was interlocked and the midfield was endless. During rehearsals, he and the crew were often busy until three or four in the morning. "It's a very big play, if you use the temperature metaphor, it's from 120 degrees Celsius to minus 20 degrees Celsius." People say I ate ginseng to act, which is nonsense. ”
Jiao Huang, who played baseball and learned to dance when he was young, said, "Exercise explosiveness, dance exercise control, these are all necessary qualities for actors." The body and mind are the material of the actor, just like the piano of the pianist, we must strengthen the exercise, eat and sleep all day, sleep and eat certainly not. ”
Before the performance, Jiao Huang would do a lot of desk research work like a student and consider the script. Some people say that Jiao Huang is difficult to get and difficult to cooperate, in this regard, Jiao Huang is very frank: "Acting is like building a house, there must be cement, steel and bricks, just give you a few bricks, how do you build?"
