The Internet Chronic Disease Management Competition Ended The Medical Federation told a story of high-quality development of the industry

author:China.com Finance

Not long ago, at the Summit Forum on the High-quality Development of Internet Hospitals held by Peking Union Medical College Hospital, such a set of data was released: there were only more than 100 Internet hospitals in the country in December 2018, and by December 2020, it had grown to more than 1,100, and about 500 new ones were added in the first half of 2021.

Internet hospitals continue to be "built", and the speed of industry development is expected. However, development cannot rely only on speed, and how to ensure high-quality development is the top priority. On September 23, the 2021 Internet Chronic Disease Management Competition National Summary Conference sponsored by the Chinese Medical Doctor Association and co-organized by the Medical Federation Internet Hospital ended in Beijing, and the competition received cases submitted by doctors from all over the country in half a year. This large-scale "academic exchange" radiating throughout the country has enabled more doctors to grasp the new concepts, new progress and new technologies of Internet chronic disease management, promoted academic exchanges in the industry, and also brought some new wind directions and thinking to the high-quality development of the industry.

Internet Chronic Disease Management Competition In this half year: Regulating the industry is the first priority

In 2019, the deaths caused by chronic diseases in China accounted for 88.5% of the total number of deaths, and the prevention and control of chronic diseases is still a huge challenge facing the entire society and academic circles.

Internet technology provides a new path for better coping with the challenges of chronic disease prevention and control. The online payment and distribution system opens up the last kilometer of drug push; through the Internet hospital, patients are connected to more expert resources, and the accessibility of medical services is improved; the online treatment and follow-up management files of patients can effectively precipitate the doctor-patient database and precision medical model, and increase the contact frequency of doctors and patients.

As Zhang Junqing, director general of the Endocrinology and Metabolism Physician Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, mentioned in his speech at the summary meeting of the chronic disease management competition, Internet medical technology allows medical services to better help doctors serve patients, improve overall efficiency, and benefit more people with medical services. But all this is based on one basic point: Internet medical care needs to be standardized and requires high-quality development.

Where is the method of high-quality development of Internet medical care? From this chronic disease management competition, you can get a glimpse of one or two.

This six-month competition is a bridge built between experts and young doctors by the Chinese Medical Doctor Association and the Federation of Medical Doctors. Through layers of case screening and expert review, truly high-quality cases surface, and doctors across the country can refer to and learn. In this way, high-quality physician resources and Internet medical experience are not only stuck in the head, but the cases of grass-roots doctors can also be adjusted and improved under the review and comments of industry experts, which can be called a "lecture hall" of Internet chronic disease management.

It can be said that in the context of the development of the Internet medical industry is not yet "fully mature", this series of operations of the Internet chronic disease management competition is actually a top-down "correction" and an activity to regulate the Internet medical industry.

In the matter of helping to standardize the development of the industry, the medical federation is serious. The Internet Chronic Disease Management Competition is just one of the many things that can be done to achieve this goal.

In June this year, the Medical Federation set up an academic committee, inviting dozens of discipline leaders and experts and professors who have studied in various disease fields for many years, including Academician Cheng Shujun, a famous oncology etiologist in China, liu Lisheng, former chairman of the World Hypertension Alliance, covering multiple disciplines such as oncology, endocrinology, infection, cardiovascular, and so on. The essence of this big-coffee committee is to allow the medical federation to refer to opinions with sufficient authority when doing the standardized construction of Internet medical treatment.

In addition to gathering "authoritative people", the medical federation has also been doing "professional things": continuously producing the results of discipline construction. In the middle of this year, the Medical Federation successively participated in the production of the "Chinese Expert Consensus on Online Management of Diabetes in Internet Hospitals" and "Expert Guidance on Internet Management of Common Adverse Reactions Related to Drug Treatment in Liver Cancer Patients". In addition to the two results that have been released, the Medical Federation also announced the launch of the "Expert Consensus on the Management of AIDS Internet Diagnosis and Treatment". Two results have already been released, and one is on the string. The achievements of these disciplines are also the industry norms designed by the Medical Federation in various disciplines to standardize the off-campus management process of Internet medical treatment, and have played a standardized role in the treatment of corresponding diseases. There is already a common understanding in the industry: the medical federation is one of the few Internet medical enterprises with discipline construction as the core.

Just last week, the Medical Federation made new progress in the construction of disciplines: together with more than ten domestic vascular surgeons, the "New Model Exploration Project for Chronic Disease Management in Vascular Surgery" was launched, and the leader of the project was Professor Chen Zhong, a well-known vascular surgery expert and director of the Vascular Surgery Center of Beijing Anzhen Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University. Professor Chen Zhong also serves as the president of the Vascular Surgeon Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, the leader of the Vascular Surgery Group of the Surgical Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, and the chairman of the Vascular Surgery Branch of the Beijing Medical Association. "Precipitating data, project expert groups jointly discuss and formulate and publish expert consensus", and continue to expand the Internet management norms of different diseases with top experts in the industry, which shows the importance that the medical federation attaches to the construction of disciplines.

As Wang Shirui, founder and CEO of the Medical Federation, mentioned, the construction of the current and future Internet hospitals is not to subvert traditional hospitals, let alone replace them, but to supplement the traditional medical model. In the development process of the medical federation, the logic followed is consistent with that of traditional hospitals, that is, starting from the construction of disciplines, and gradually improving online management norms. Finally, the all-round and closed-loop management of diseases from early screening, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation is realized. ”

If expert resources and industry norms are "up", then the medical federation is making the Internet medical industry more sound through its own strength from top to bottom. This Internet chronic disease management competition is just a microcosm of the discipline construction and serious medical treatment of the medical association.

Do not build "castles in the air" Real cases feed back the development of the industry

At this chronic disease management competition, doctors from all over the country shared their cases of managing patients through the Internet platform. Many of these cases are typical cases of various disciplines, which have "sampled" the medical management of patients through the Internet by doctors across the country. More importantly, the experience encountered in practical operation has also brought new thinking to the industry.

In the excellent case sharing session of the summary meeting of the Internet Chronic Disease Management Competition, Liu Pingqing, the first winner of the infectious disease discipline, said in the case sharing: Through the medical association, Dr. Liu and the patient can frequently communicate one-on-one, which greatly improves the patient's experience and treatment compliance. For a certain period of time, a new type of antiviral drug was not available locally, and the urgent needs of patients were quickly solved through the Internet platform.

Dr. Liu Linxia, the first winner of the respiratory science, believes that the doctor's intervention is really indispensable. Online can do a lot of things that are difficult to do offline or even impossible to do, such as timely follow-up, especially to persuade smoking cessation, control risk factors, and supervise the use of stable drugs. The platform provides a reminder to the patient, which will urge him to cooperate with the treatment better and faster, improving compliance.

Zhu Chonggui, the first winner of the department of endocrinology, specially customized the Internet chronic disease management treatment plan for the patients he managed: the patient monitored the heart rate every day, 2 times a day, monitored the number of stools, weight and other indicators, and any discomfort could be consulted with him at any time through the online clinic of the medical association; the weekly blood routine report was communicated online at any time to facilitate the adjustment of the medication plan.

Dr. Chen Kaixuan of the Department of Oncology admitted in an interview: It is not difficult to see a doctor, but the difficulty is follow-up, and follow-up needs to consume a lot of time and energy. The medical federation platform will help us manage patients better and more efficiently, help patients, tell patients when to take medicines, whether they need to adjust their measurements, and so on.

These most "vivid" cases provided by doctors from all over the world tell the biggest demands of doctors and patients for Internet medical treatment. As Professor Zhang Junqing mentioned at the summary meeting, the development of Internet technology has allowed medical services to be extended more widely, which not only allows medical resources to be better utilized, but also improves the efficiency, breadth, depth and overall level of medical services. In the process of chronic disease management, Internet technology can expand medical services from hospitals to outside hospitals, from simple 'one-to-one' management offline to continuous 'one-to-many' management. ”

But these cases are also telling the industry that if it is only through top-down design, it is easy to build Internet health care into a "castle in the air": only the theoretical framework and the lack of systematic feedback and adjustment from doctors. Through the collection of cases, not only can doctors across the country grasp advanced experience, but also let these experiences feed back into the standardized process established by each disease, realize the optimization of process, technology and concept, and form a bottom-up cycle of industry development. This is also another purpose achieved by the Chinese Medical Doctor Association and medical association through this competition.

Through top-down regulation, and bottom-up adjustment, the Internet medical industry can have high-quality development. Medical care is a slow industry, the same is true of Internet medical care, "high-quality development" must be prioritized over "high-speed development". Through the joint efforts of multiple parties to promote a good cycle model, to help doctors better serve patients, and to be responsible for the results of patients' treatment, is the problem that Internet medical companies need to think more about.
