This poem that Zhang Xiao gave to Shen Shou became evidence that posterity defined the ambiguity between the two. Pearl, pearl... It would not hurt if a person who did not understand the history of literature wrote this verse, but Zhang Jian was a leader of the late Qing Dynasty, and he should understand very well the sentence in the "Festival of Women's Yin": "Return the emperor and pearl to tears, and hate when they do not meet and are not married."
Shen Shou's husband, Yu Jue, is still strictly speaking an employee of Zhang Xiao. During the eight years that Shen Shou lived in Nantong, zhang jian and Shen Shou's rumors and rumors have spread throughout Jiangsu and Shanghai. Even if Shen Shou later fell ill and died, the tabloids still did not let her go. In the end, Shen Shou's husband Yu Jue wrote "The History of the Pain of Yu Jue Shen Shou and His Wife Nantong", which publicized the entanglement of the three people's grievances and portrayed Zhang Jian as an old hooligan who entangled Shen Shou and seized Shen Shou's embroidery.

In 1874, Shen Shou was born in Wu County, his original name was Shen Yunzhi, and his name was Xue Eunuch. Shen Yunzhi's family is well-off, his father is a businessman, but also a lover of antiques, calligraphy and painting. Shen Yunzhi was quite talented in embroidery when she was young, and at the age of seventeen or eighteen, she was a well-known embroidery lady in the township. The combination of Shen Yunzhi and Yu Jue is originally a heaven-made design, and Yu Jue is born in Xiangmendi, not only writing a good article, but also very good at painting. After the two married, one of them used a pen to replace the needle, and the other to write with a needle, and the real tacit understanding was very complementary.
And this state of QinSer and Ming did not last long, because soon, Yu Jue found a shortcut to "promotion and wealth". Shen Shou is an embroidery lady who devotes herself to embroidery, but Yu Jue is definitely not a simple literati. Yu Jue is good at dancing with wide sleeves, and his friends are all powerful and powerful dignitaries, waiting for an opportunity to appear. Thirty years after Guangxu, Cixi is about to celebrate her seventieth birthday. This year, Shen Shou was thirty-one years old and finally conceived her first child. On this day, Shan Shusheng, who served in the imperial court, found Yu Jue and hoped that the couple could present an embroidery for Cixi. Yu Jue felt that this was a good opportunity, and he immediately went to his father-in-law's house, selected 11 famous paintings, and copied them himself to let his wife embroider.
Embroidery is not like painting, and every stitch and thread is bloody. Shen Yunzhi completed the work within the deadline, but also died due to overwork. Yu Jue did not have time to care for his wife, and immediately selected 8 works to dedicate to Cixi. Even though the Forbidden City was embroidered like a cloud, Cixi still called it a unique divine product, and wrote the words "Fu" and "Shou" to the young couple with great joy. Shen Yunzhi changed his name to Shen Shou.

At that time, Yu Jue, who had already opened an embroidery school, never cared about the loneliness under his wife's idyllic expression, and brought his wife to Japan to investigate. And the bad luck, Cixi died, the Qing Dynasty declined, Yu Jue and Shen Shou did not expect to get the hard-won golden rice bowl lost, they had to find another way out. At this time, Shen Shou was no longer young, because of the contradictions between her and her husband, she became more silent and devoted herself to teaching and simulating embroidery research. Zhang Xiaogong became famous and has always appeared in front of people as a modest, harmonious, restrained educator and philanthropist, but after meeting Shen Shou, he still did not control his mind.
At that time, Shen Shou and Yu Jue were separated from each other because of work and feelings, and they were very cold to each other, and Shen Shou also suffered from serious illness because of years of depression. In order to take care of Shen Shou, Zhang Jian looked around for a famous doctor for her. And took her to his villa "Humble Pavilion" to recuperate. Zhang Xiao's love for Shen Shou was very obvious, and Shen Shou did not understand. When she was lonely and sick, she also coveted Zhang Xiao's care and listened to Zhang Xiao write and write poems for her. But she has always adhered to her bottom line, and in order to avoid suspicion, she asked students and relatives to live with her. Zhang Jian did not allow it, so she moved back to her original residence. Zhang Xiao had no choice but to build a "trench Yang Xiaozhu" for her, the front and back of this house were separated from each other, Shen Shou lived in the front yard, and Zhang Xiao lived in the backyard.

For Zhang Xiao's courtesy, Shen Shou once wrote a poem: "The heart has its own master, and does not follow the wind." And when she was terminally ill, she still reluctantly picked up the needle and thread herself, and embroidered Zhang Xiao's handwriting "Qianting" with her own green silk. Zhang Xiao sighed and wrote a poem:

Zhang Jian and Shen Shou stayed together for eight years, and Zhang Jian watched Shen Shou gradually become terminally ill, and almost spent all his free time with her. The last most important thing about Shen Shou's illness was that Zhang Xiao accompanied her to finish it. She told what she had learned about embroidery in her life, and Zhang Xiao made a record. At that time, Zhang Xiao was already in his sixties, charity, education, enterprise... He was already exhausted, but he still squeezed out time and wrote the "Snow Eunuch Embroidery Recipe" for Shen Shou.
At this time, Yu Jue was in a new mood in the field, and he knew nothing about his wife's condition and was indifferent.
On June 18, 1921, Shen Shou died in Nantong. Her last wish before her death was to be buried in Nantong and not return to her husband's home. In that era, Shen Shou's decision was urgent and courageous, and it could be regarded as giving Zhang Xiao a final reply. Six months after Shen Shou's death, the "Snow Eunuch Embroidery Spectrum" was published, and Zhang Jian wrote in the preface: "There is not a word that does not describe the book, and there is not a word that does not come out of life." Shen Shou left, Yu Jue, because he could not bear the foul language of various tabloids, finally wrote such a strange article as "The Painful History of Shen Shou and His Wife", accusing Zhang Jian of making him "not allowed to live with his wife in life, and not to die with his wife", in order to testify against himself, he even published all the poems and letters written by Zhang Xiao to Shen Shou. After Shen Shou's death, he even changed his name to "Trembling Mouth Lone Bird", always reminding people that he was the "victim". Shen Shou's life and death were all paid for by Zhang Xiao. Her death was a very big blow to Zhang Jian. In his diary, deep nostalgia is often revealed.
