On October 11, the third meeting of the Eighth State Duma of Russia was held to discuss the appointment of the Vice-Chairmen of the Eighth State Duma and the professional committees.

The Eighth State Duma held a thematic meeting in which a vote was cast on the structure and composition of the Eighth State Duma Committee, based on the candidates for leadership positions submitted by the Provisional Working Group composed of all five factional Duma groups.

Seventeen of the 32 committees of the Eighth Russian State Duma will be headed by the United Russia Party, retaining key committee posts in the areas of legislation, budget, security, and information policy in the 26 seats of the Seventh Session;

The Communist Party of the Russian Federation was assigned chairman of the Property Committee of the State Duma; the LDP retained its post as chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Labour, Local Government and Sport.

In the Seventh National Duma Committee, the LDP was newly assigned to the post of Chairman of the Commission on Economic Policy, Financial Markets and Nationalities. The new BJP was awarded 2 chairmanships, including the Tourism Committee; the 8th Russian State Duma Committee was allocated the post of deputy director.

After negotiations, no honorary positions were created for the chairmen of all committees.

In addition, the LDP has proposed the establishment of a committee to protect citizens' housing rights, but the parties have yet to reach a compromise on the issue, despite confidence that a positive decision will be taken.

Zhrinovsky, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, announced that he would appoint Chernishov, deputy speaker of the Seventh Russian State Duma, to continue to represent his party in the presidium of the Duma.

Alphonnin, first vice chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, also said that the Russian Communist Party was dissatisfied with the fact that there were only five committee chairmen, and that the number of parliamentarians in the current russian communist party had increased from 42 to 57 in the previous term, but the key proposals of the Russian communist party had also been considered.

Former Governor of Irkutsk Oblast Levchenko will become the first deputy chairman of the Energy Committee; Novikov as Vice-Chairman of the International Committee; Mrs. Shapo as Vice-Chairman of the Budget Committee; Sinershikov as Vice-Chairman of the Legislative Committee; and Afnin as Vice-Chairman of the Security Committee.

It is reported that after the appointment is announced, Russian President Putin will convene a state council meeting attended by the leaders of the Duma in the Kremlin.
