The character Xuan Zai ,号思白,also known as Xiangguang Jushi (香光居士), was a native of Songjiang Huating (present-day Songjiang County, Shanghai), an official of the Nanjing Libu Shangshu and Yuwen Min. Known as "Dong Xiangguang", "Dong Wenmin", "Dong Huating", in the late Ming Dynasty, he was famous for his calligraphy and painting in Hainei.
Dong Qichang is knowledgeable and proficient in Zen theory, is a collection of calligraphers and painters, has a certain position in the history of Chinese art, and his "Painting Zen Room Essay" is an extremely important work on the history of Chinese art.
