Daniel Bryan hasn't shouted his "yes!" since joining AEW. The slogan, for the simple reason, was that WWE asked him not to do so.

The 40-year-old revealed this during a recent appearance on Barstool Rasslin's show.

In a conversation with host Brandon F. Walker, Daniel Bryan outlined his conversations with Kevin Dunn before joining AEW wrestling, in which WWE's executive producer and director of global television production asked the former Daniel Bryan to respect the intellectual property of his old employer.

Daniel Bryan said: "I don't do it myself because I respect WWE's intellectual property. I don't think there's a legal problem, and they haven't threatened any legal problem.

So before I made my debut with AEW, I had a great conversation with Kevin Dunn of WWE.

Daniel Bryan added: "I was very honest with WWE about everything, including when I made my debut at AEW and everything about how I got in touch with AEW.

They politely asked me to respect their intellectual property, even something that can't be legally enforced, and I've been someone at WWE for a long time and I'll try to do that."

The initiator of the "YES Frenzy" has been staying away from WWE since leaving WWE in May.

On Sept. 5, at a media panel after the 2021 National Games, Daniel Bryan spoke about his positive relationship with Vince McMahon, saying he enjoyed his time at WWE, as well as in a recent editorial titled "Thank you, WWE" for The Players Tribune.

Daniel Bryan will play his first AEW match on tonight's "Grand Slam" Dynamite special, facing world champion Kenny Omega in a titleless match.
