The sudden outbreak of the new crown epidemic in 2020 has delayed the release of "007: No Time to Die". It also inadvertently allowed Daniel Craig to be extended as 007's "term of office". At the end of 2021, with the gradual release of "007: No Time to Die" worldwide, this time 007 Daniel Craig finally came to say goodbye. Daniel Craig played the role of Bond from 2006 in 007: Casino Royale, succeeding Pierce Brosnan as the sixth Agent 007. From 2006's "007: Casino Royale" to 2021's "007: No Time to Die," he played the screen agent for 15 years.

Reporter: Looking back at the 5 007 movies you participated in, do you have anything to share with fans?

DANIEL CRAIG: I'm excited to look ahead. I think it's time to say goodbye. I feel like I've done my best to play the role. Looking back at the five 007 films I've worked on, I'm very proud of them and grateful for the opportunity to be a part of them. But of course there will be reluctance to say goodbye to 007, because it is an important role in my life. It will be... I used to spend a lot of time thinking about the role. I thought it through, not hastily played the role. And when I say goodbye to it, I have to think about it a lot, discuss it with people, and try to feel it. Of course, then the outbreak of the new crown epidemic brought a lot of changes to things, and many things have a new perspective. So, I'm now very happy and happy with my 007 finale, but there's also a touch of sadness.

Reporter: It was once rumored that "007: No Time to Die" will be released on the Internet, and now it can finally meet on the big screen, are you excited?

Daniel Craig: It's just amazing. My joy was palpable. Even a year ago, we pessimistically thought, "That's it, our movies can only be broadcast online." "That would be a pity, because everyone's hard work would be wasted." But in fact, now that it has landed on the IMAX screen and is released in major theaters, audiences will have the opportunity to go to theaters to watch, and some places are even overcrowded. Even if some places cannot exceed 30% of the attendance rate according to the epidemic prevention requirements, I am already very happy to learn that the film can be released.

Reporter: For the role of 007, did you add "Daniel Craig" to it?

DANIEL CRAIG: I worked with producers Barbara Brockley and Michael Scott a long time ago. G. Wilson talked about being the "guardians" of the 007 movie, and that's what they do. I said to them, "If you allow me to speak and give me input during the making of a film, then I can try to convince myself that I am James Bond because I want to be involved in all aspects of filmmaking, and I need that sense of involvement." They said yes. And very fortunately, they said to me, "We want to hear from you." For me, that means I can come up with my own ideas. I can suggest scripts, casting suggestions, and I can also recommend directors I want to work with. I've been deeply involved from the beginning because... Can I speak "without a mouth", can I say this?

Reporter: Which classic 007 characters have had a profound impact on you?

Daniel Craig: I think... I grew up watching Sean Connery and Roger's version of 007, and Sean Connery and his suit styling were particularly influential on me. There are several famous behind-the-scenes stories about the 007 suit... I forgot if that director was Guy Burgess or... It wasn't Guy Burgess, who directed the first few 007 films, and he had Sean Connery put on a Savile Street couture suit and said to him, "You're going to wear it all the time, and you can't take it off when you sleep." So the final effect in the film is that Sean Connery successfully steered the suit without being bound by the suit. These stories always impressed me with the style of dressing, detailing, and so on of the 007 movie. When you read Ian Fleming's original book, he pays a lot of attention to detail. He could describe a breakfast on three pages and a pair of cufflinks in four paragraphs. I feel it's our responsibility to preserve this tradition for fans and Bond fans, to pay homage to Ian Fleming and all the 007 films that came before it.

Reporter: Do you think your appearance has changed 007?

DANIEL CRAIG: I wish there were. I tried to change him, like I said before, as I got older, I had to try to change him, look at him... Let him be as close to me as possible. I never wanted to pretend... The more Bond has opponents, the more it makes me feel like a real character, which doesn't mean that what he does is not good, sometimes what he does is unbelievable, and I hope it will achieve a certain entertainment effect. But I've always tried to make him a real person, a... A person who will be influenced by the world, so that he will also become a down-to-earth character.

Reporter: Please talk about playing this role, what are your gains?

Daniel Craig: In all the years I've been in Bond, a lot of wonderful things have happened in my life. I gained a lot of work experience and became more confident in my performances, because starring in 007 movies has allowed me to meet a lot of good actors in the industry, have the opportunity to observe how they work, and hopefully I have learned something from it, which will also benefit me for life. I work with a lot of great people in the industry, and every one of them loves what they do, and that makes me love my job even more.

Reporter: I heard that every time you shoot 007, you leave some "souvenirs"?

Daniel Craig: I'm asked a lot... I do get asked this question a lot.

I think people must have thought I had all the props on the set and gone home. Before I left the set, I had to undergo a body search. I left a few things as a souvenir. I like to keep my suits. But the problem is, I was very thin during the filming, and after a year the clothes didn't fit very well, but they were still very delicate. I donated all these suits to charity. There are also things like shoes that I donate to charities and auctions. I left a watch that I had worn during the filming of 007: Casino Royale, a very beautiful Omega rubber strap watch, which I had worn in a rocker shot. It's also stained with red mud left over from the rocker shot. I will treasure it forever.

Reporter: When it comes to saying goodbye, will there be reluctance?

Daniel Craig: I have mixed feelings inside. I'm happy and proud of the effort I've put in, and I'm happy with all the 007 movies I've starred in, especially this one. But of course, saying goodbye to the 007 series that has accompanied me for fifteen or sixteen years, I definitely have a lot of reluctance. I miss this time a lot, especially the crew members who have worked with me over the years and have become close friends.

Reporter: Can you briefly summarize the years of starring in 007?

Daniel Craig: For me, I was very rewarded by the role of 007, and there were a lot of wonderful things that happened along the way. My personal life has changed dramatically as a result. It was an incredible experience. It's an honor for me to be part of such a long-running film series, and I hope that after my farewell, it can continue to go further. Working with some of the best in the industry to make a movie that's loved by audiences — as simple as it sounds — I'm grateful for the opportunity. Few people have the opportunity to make such a blockbuster, which is a very rare opportunity, and it is a great honor to be able to star in the 007 series of movies, and I have learned a lot in the process of working with excellent peers. This left an indelible mark on me.

Reporter: Please talk about the recent progress of work.

Daniel Craig: I'm pretty nervous about the arrangement right now, but it's not bad. I just finished making Blade Out of the Sheath 2, the movie has just finished, is currently editing, and will be released next year. I'm going to Go to Broadway next year to do Macbeth, so I'm still busy.
