Jiachen Zhang, CEO of Tree of Light, speaks with Kevin Kelly: Looking ahead to AI, Trusted Computing, and BAT Disruptors

author:Odaily Planet Daily

From May 26th to 29th, the 2019 China International Big Data Industry Expo (hereinafter referred to as the "Data Expo"), jointly sponsored by the Organizing Committee of China International Big Data Industry Expo and CCTV Financial Channel of China Central Radio and Television Corporation, and hosted by China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, was held in Guiyang.

Jiachen Zhang, CEO of Tree of Light, speaks with Kevin Kelly: Looking ahead to AI, Trusted Computing, and BAT Disruptors

As an extension of the 2019 Digital Expo Blockchain High-end Dialogue Conference, kevin Kelly's book sharing meeting hosted by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology was held in Guiyang Zhong Shu Ge on the 27th. Tree of Light Technology CEO Zhang Jiachen had a dialogue with Kevin Kelly as a representative of Chinese entrepreneurs.

Jiachen Zhang, CEO of Tree of Light, speaks with Kevin Kelly: Looking ahead to AI, Trusted Computing, and BAT Disruptors

Tree of Light technology provides secure multi-party computing technology based on blockchain, which aims to help data parties to conduct trusted data collaboration without exposing the original data, so that data is available and invisible, and helps banks, insurance, Internet companies and government agencies unlock new data application scenarios including risk control, marketing, scientific research, etc.

<h3>The regret of [out of control</h3>].

Zhang Jiachen: You have gained many fans around the world with your unique foresight of technology. Published in 1994, 25 years ago, the book mentioned the hot concepts of many years later: cloud computing, AR, the Internet, the sharing economy, etc. Today, 25 years later, looking back, there is not much difference. Such an accurate prediction was rare at the time. Looking back today, do you think there are any places that need to be revised and supplemented in the book "Out of Control"?

KK: That's a good question, and I've thought about it, but I found that there's nothing that needs to be changed.

When I was writing Runaway, the content was public. For example, it will be updated on Twitter and write whatever comes to mind. Even last month, I took advantage of the inspiration to update the content on Twitter.

Although I don't want to change it, I have many things that I feel should be updated and added. The first is that there is more space on economic models and forecasts and so on, which is very critical. In addition, I also hope to add a description of computer technology simulation exercises to the book, and even want to add an entire chapter to write computer simulation exercises.

<h3>Necessity's unique foresight of technology</h3>

Zhang Jiachen: In the book "Necessity", you elaborate on the twelve inevitable scientific and technological forces, and describe how these trends will form a synergy to guide the direction of science and technology in the next 30 years. I'm curious how the data referenced by the KK prediction is obtained? This enables it to accurately predict technology trends 30 years from now.

KK: Not everything is predictable. For example, the characteristics of different companies cannot be done, but what can be determined is the general direction of the future development of the whole system. We are good at summarizing the law, for example, we can conclude that whether it is an ecology or a system, it may continue to appear and its similar patterns, and when we detect these patterns, it is actually easy to estimate the future trend, which is the basis for my prediction of the future, even in our lives, there are actually such development paths to refer to.

Our lives and lives are actually about constantly creating new ways of thinking or thinking, and although human technology can't create thoughts, I'm sure it needs them a lot. ”

It's as if we can't predict that "Google is the AI giant." Because even if a company is fully developing AI technology, it is not known whether it will succeed in itself. This is unpredictable.

<h3>"Human and AI working together is the future" </h3>

Zhang Jiachen: As we all know, artificial intelligence is the technology that KK pays the most attention to, what is the future of artificial intelligence?

KK: Now humanity is facing a digital Internet world, data can allow us to work together, attract large numbers of people to work together, for example, maybe a million people in real time online collaborative work, but the basis is to be able to establish a trust mechanism. The possibility of synergy in the future is for us to attract mutual trust, and blockchain and cryptocurrencies are in a sense a collaborative tool that can do work at scale that is unprecedented. Human and AI group work is the trend of the future.

Data Privacy and Data Usage Issues: Federated Learning and Trusted Computing to Help

Jiachen Zhang: Tree of Light technology provides secure multi-party computing technology based on blockchain, which aims to help data parties to conduct trusted data collaboration without exposing the original data, so that data is available and invisible, and the problem of data islands is solved. Big data is the means of production of AI, how do you see the future trend of balancing data value and privacy?

KK: That's a hard question to answer. Regarding data privacy, I think our lives may be monitored in the future, and this surveillance behavior may come from mobile phones, or cameras and so on, which is a big problem. In this field, we can analyze and seek solutions from multiple dimensions, and at present, the harm of data privacy to people will not be solved in the short term.

Regarding how to balance the value of data and privacy, we can hope for the future, and I firmly believe that with the development of technology, there will be a high-tech application that can help us record life data, but also help us protect our privacy. Blockchain-based concepts such as secure multi-party computing, differential privacy, and federated computing are technical solutions. We can extract the characteristics of the data and then aggregate all the results together, but provide better privacy protection.

Jiachen Zhang, CEO of Tree of Light, speaks with Kevin Kelly: Looking ahead to AI, Trusted Computing, and BAT Disruptors

Zhang Jiachen: Solving the security and privacy problems of data circulation is exactly what The high-performance, secure, and configurable secure multi-party computing system of Tree of Light is doing. The principle is that the system builds an operating system on the chip trusted environment, allows the encrypted data to enter the trusted environment and decrypts the operation, the whole process of the original data is not visible and only outputs the operation results, seamlessly supporting common models including machine learning, so as to achieve data availability and invisibility. At the same time, blockchain and smart contracts have witnessed and traced the data collaboration process.

<h3>The next generation of giants that will disrupt BAT has emerged</h3>

Zhang Jiachen: As early as 7 years ago, you came to China to talk with Tencent founder Ma Huateng. At that time, Ma Huateng asked: "Who do you think will surpass Tencent?" Today, seven years later, revisit the question: Who would subvert a giant like BAT? What would your answer be?

KK: A generation of digital platforms is a web that aggregates all the information and uses a lot of hyperlinks to achieve machine-readable purposes. Such a search engine product is led by giants like Facebook and Baidu. The second generation of digital platforms is social media. It connects all sorts of interpersonal relationships, it connects all people, related giants like Weibo and WeChat, among others. The third-generation platform will subvert bat these traditional giants. Disruptors are likely to be in the realm of digital twins, and will be key entrants to the third generation of platforms after portals and social networks.

We will be able to make everything in the world digital. This disruptor is likely to have emerged now, it is in a very early stage of development, and it will not be widely noticed until a decade later. I don't think the so-called third-generation "big players" will be tech giants such as Baidu, Google, and Alibaba.
