On February 4, upstream news reported on the accident of a mountaineer who was unfortunately killed in Ganzi Yam Snow Mountain in Sichuan during the Spring Festival (Sichuan Ganzi Yam Snow Mountain has a slide accident?). Local response: A climber was unfortunately killed, and the mountain has been closed). Upstream News (report mailbox: [email protected]) reporter learned that just after this accident, another local climber went missing, but fortunately he was finally rescued. On February 8, the mountaineer, who miraculously survived after losing contact with Yam Snow Mountain, took the initiative to contact upstream news reporters and told all his experiences of entering the mountain, being in distress, and being rescued. "I hope my personal experience can serve as a warning to everyone!"

I met a team transporting the bodies of the victims
"I am the survivor of the day and night after the loss of contact with Yam Snow Mountain, and I am the only survivor of the loss of contact with Yam Snow Mountain, and I am willing to tell my own experience to warn everyone." The survivor's name is Zhipeng (pseudonym), 25 years old, from Deyang, Sichuan. On the evening of the 8th, he told upstream news reporters about his thrilling experience in Yam Snow Mountain.
On January 31, Zhipeng and his online invited partners set off from Chengdu with the goal of climbing the "entry-level" Ganzi Yam Snow Mountain in Sichuan. At around 8 p.m. that night, the four arrived at the village at the foot of the snow-capped mountains. Due to the late day, the three companions chose to stay at the homestay in the village, and only Zhipeng chose to reload and go up the mountain. "Maybe I'm more confident and choose to go up the mountain alone." Zhipeng said that the four agreed to meet at 4 a.m. on February 1 at Xiaohaizi on the climbing route.
"In fact, before I went up the mountain, I heard that there was a slip and fall accident in the snow-capped mountain." Just after 11 p.m., Zhipeng encountered a team that transported the bodies of the victims of the slip and fall accident down the mountain, but this still did not arouse his vigilance. "I've been in a similar situation before, so I'm not scared at all." Continuing to climb, Zhipeng came to the target location and set up camp near Xiaohaizi.
Overconfidence to lose 6 pounds and give up the light source
At around 4 o'clock on February 1, the three friends came to Xiaohaizi on a motorcycle to meet Zhipeng, who was camped. In order to lighten the load, here, Zhipeng left tents, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, gas tanks and other items at the camp. In addition to the main mountaineering equipment, such as seat belts, main locks, ropes, headlamps, trekking poles, mobile phones, etc., he only brought a down jacket, a bottle of Red Bull, a bottle of mineral water, a bottle of hot water, an energy bar, 4 energy gels, an electrolyte powder, and some nuts, and set off lightly with his companions.
Because the four of them formed a temporary team, the cooperation was not tacit, and one of the four people with rich climbing experience quickly walked in front and disappeared. Mr. Zhipeng said he and two other companions with average physical strength walked behind. When I came to the position of the large platform on the left line at the foot of Yam Snow Mountain, a companion had a problem with his physical strength, and decided to go down the mountain after self-assessment. At this time, it was around 7 o'clock in the morning, and Zhipeng's companions were only Ah Yue (pseudonym). In order to speed up the climb, Zhipeng decided to further reduce the weight. Here he removed his headlamp and his cane. "It was a mistake to throw away the headlamp, not thinking about not being able to get down in the dark." He told reporters afterwards.
Zhipeng told reporters that more than 90% of the people in Dengham Snow Mountain took the left ridge line, and they originally planned to take this route. However, due to the waste of a lot of time in the early stage, in order to reach the top as soon as possible, Zhipeng and Ah Yue chose the line of "the middle line goes straight to the right". "It's faster to go straight up to the right of the midline, but it's also more dangerous."
At around 11:30 a.m., due to physical reasons, Ah Yue also gave up. At this time, Zhipeng found that his mobile phone and power bank were out of power. In order to further reduce the burden, he handed over his mobile phone and power bank to Ah Yue. "He waited where he was, and made an appointment to meet him when I came down the mountain." Zhipeng said that he also handed over the 60-meter rope on his body to Ah Yue. "I may have unloaded a total of 6 pounds of weight, and then I continued to climb the mountain, I was still overconfident in myself. Zhipeng recalled.
Stayed up in the crack all night waiting for rescue
The rest of the climb went well, and Zhipeng said that about two hours before the sun set, he had reached the small pass on the right side of the summit, which was only 20-30 meters from the summit. But the accident ensued, and "a slip and fall occurred". Zhipeng said he slipped and fell about 10 meters to the back of the mountain, and was stabbed in the right foot by a crampon in his left foot. Fortunately, the injury was not very serious, and he was able to continue moving.
After more than an hour of struggle, Zhipeng successfully walked out of the slip and fell, and after about half an hour of climbing, he finally succeeded in reaching the top, but by this time he was exhausted and it was getting dark. Zhipeng told reporters that the reason why he insisted on climbing to the top was that he wanted to go down from the left side of the mountain after reaching the top. "The route that everyone walks on may have paved ropes, and the descent will be faster and safer."
Coming to the top of the mountain, Zhipeng really found a road rope, and along the road rope of about 50 meters, he descended to a small platform on the left line. "It's already dark, and I can barely see anything." Zhipeng said that he used a utility knife to cut a road rope of about 8 meters and continued to descend in the dark, but took the wrong road. "I walked to a ridgeline and found a cliff below."
Zhipeng had no choice but to return to the small platform. "At this point, the wind speed on the mountain may have reached 8-10 levels." Zhipeng felt that there was no hope of descending the mountain, so he descended to the top of the cliff again. "Because the first time I came there, I found a crack the size of a coffin, which kept out a little wind. So I lay down and boiled there. Zhipeng said that because he had already drunk all the water, he felt dehydrated at this time, so he knocked a few pieces of ice with an ice axe to eat. Don't dare to eat too much. ”

The first local survivor after going missing
"I don't know how long it was, maybe in the early hours of the morning, the wind was much lighter, and I saw a lot of lights, so I thought it was coming to rescue me." Zhipeng said that he tried to shout loudly, but the wind was too strong for the other party to hear. He also struck the stone with an ice axe made of carbon steel, hoping to attract the attention of rescuers with the sparks, but to no avail. He held up the first aid blanket again, hoping that the aluminum foil would reflect the light, but it still failed to attract the other person's attention.
"It's not completely hopeless at this point." Zhipeng said that at that time, someone walked about 60 or 70 meters below the cliff where he was. "I thought I had been discovered, I thought they had returned to get rescue tools." After that, he waited for about three or four hours, and Zhipeng felt a little desperate in his heart. "I felt a little uncomfortable in my heart", but then I felt that I could carry it, and I wanted to carry it until dawn.
What really scared Zhipeng was, "In a state of lying half-asleep, I suddenly felt a little cold in my chest, and I was scared to wake up a lot." Zhipeng said that this may be a precursor to hypothermia, so he began to bend his knees in the gap to move his body. In this way, I moved for a while and rested for a while, and stayed up until the sky was slightly bright, and then I fell asleep. When Zhipeng climbed out of the gap, it was already dawn, and he looked down the mountain and found that there was a guide at the bottom of the mountain who was leading the mountaineering team to climb the mountain.
"Big brother, are you here to save me?" When the guide walked about 100 meters closer to Zhipeng, Zhipeng shouted loudly. This time, his call for help was answered, and the guide immediately notified the rescue team. With everyone's help, after 3 pm on the 2nd, Zhipeng went down to Dora Village at the foot of the snowy mountain. From entering the mountain to leaving the mountain, about 55 hours, Zhipeng experienced missing contact, slipping and falling to being successfully rescued. "The villagers and the guide told me that I was the first survivor to be rescued after the first person went missing in the Yam Snow Mountain."
The rescue team went up the mountain overnight to carry out the rescue
For the rest of his life, Zhipeng felt very afraid. Zhipeng said that he later learned that because he could not wait for him to go down the mountain, his companion Ah Yue could only choose to go down the mountain alone before dark on February 1, but after going down the mountain, he still did not see Zhipeng, so he immediately notified Zhipeng's family. On February 9, Ah Yue told upstream news reporters that he was very worried about Zhipeng's situation at that time.
Zhipeng felt guilty for the worry he had brought to his family and friends. Knowing that Zhipeng was missing, Zhipeng's family rushed from Chengdu to Yam Snow Mountain overnight that day, and at the same time chose to call the police, they also posted on the Internet for help, seeking witnesses, hoping to get clues about Zhipeng's whereabouts.
In order to rescue Zhipeng, a rescue team composed of many parties went up the mountain to carry out rescue on the night of the 1st. The snow-capped mountains at night were very dangerous, and because of the rescue of him, the rescue team was also in danger, and Zhipeng felt very guilty and blamed himself. Mr. Yong, the owner of the B&B in Group 1 of Dora Village, a mountaineering point in Yam Snow Mountain, told reporters that he and some villagers participated in the rescue, and the 119 rescue team was also dispatched at that time. With the help of everyone, Zhipeng, who was trapped on the top of the mountain overnight, was successfully rescued.
After being rescued, he admitted that illegal climbing had taught him a profound lesson
Upstream reporters inquired and found that Yam Snow Mountain had been closed on October 1 last year, and there were signs at the foot of the snow mountain, and there were also card points on the mountain to prohibit tourists from entering the mountain. Zhipeng told reporters that after being rescued and returned to the village, the local public security and village staff reassured him on the one hand, and at the same time warned him for illegal mountaineering. "Persuade me not to take such dangerous actions in the future." This experience left a profound lesson for Zhipeng. He admits that it should not be climbed illegally.
"Don't be misled by some videos on the Internet and think that 'junior snow mountain' is very simple." Zhipeng said that don't underestimate any snow mountain, even if it is the so-called "primary snow mountain", in fact, it is still very difficult to climb, and you may die if you are not careful. Safety is always the first priority, outdoor safety details are particularly important, he made a serious mistake in the issue of communication equipment, mobile phones and light sources this time.
"Entering an area where climbing is officially prohibited is called illegal mountaineering." Mr. Li, a well-known outdoor blogger with 10 years of experience in outdoor mountaineering, told upstream news reporters that mountaineering should first choose a regular area and abide by local regulations; At the same time, you should also go on the premise of ensuring your own safety and try to avoid walking alone. During the mountaineering, you should fully assess your own ability, and when you feel strained, the first choice is to retreat safely. Basic survival equipment should not be discarded, especially reliable communication tools such as satellite phones, and emergency contacts must be set up.
