Former deputy commander of the 108th Regiment of the 36th Division of the 12th Army of the Chengdu Campaign
Wu Yanping, the daughter of Wu Xiaoxian
During the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, I arrived in Chengdu City and Pujiang County. Along the way, the smoke and rain are hazy, the endless orange groves stretch endlessly, and the abundant fruits are like bright stars in the sky. The relatives of Pujiang greeted us in the rain. Our mood is surging, our eyes are hot, and we feel like we have found the warmth of home!
"Remembering the Revolutionary Martyrs and Inheriting the Red Gene" A row of eye-catching red characters jumped into our eyes.
Looking up at the "immortality of the people's heroes", we climbed the hillside where the monument was erected.
We stared at the towering monument to the heroes, a gun was stuck in reverse on the monument, and a steel helmet rested next to it, and a red five-pointed star engraved with "August 1" shining brightly in the middle, surrounded by green pines. They watched over the land of Pujiang and witnessed the vicissitudes of life in New China over the past 75 years.
The ancestors who participated in the Battle of Chengdu, your descendants have come to visit you and pay tribute to you.
Along a new shiny asphalt road, passing through lush orange groves, kiwifruit plantations and winter dates, we entered Dunkan Village, Xilai Town, Pujiang County. Looking from afar, we saw a monument with a striking red inscription on an earthen wall: "Chengdu Battle, the Land of Decisive Victory".
Step inside this old earthen house, which used to be the headquarters of Li Wen's Corps, deputy director of the Xi'an Pacification Office and commander of the Fifth Corps, the last regular army of the Kuomintang. Inside are photos and wax figures of Wu Xiaoxian, deputy commander of the 108th Regiment of the 36th Division of the 12th Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, negotiating with the commander of Li Wen's Corps.
This earthen house, which is a symbol of the fall of the Chiang dynasty, the last elite unit of the Kuomintang, known as the "first army in the world", Commander Li Wen announced the surrender of all Kuomintang troops to the PLA.
Chiang Kai-shek fled to Taiwan, Hu Zongnan's ace troops surrendered, and the People's Republic of China was completely liberated.
For this day, the People's Liberation Army marched into the southwest and successfully liberated Chengdu, where countless PLA soldiers sacrificed their lives.
Caressing the names of the sacrificial liberation fighters in the rows of closely-lined lists.
Walking into the Chengdu Battle Victory Memorial Hall, there is a sculpture of a PLA soldier blowing the troop trumpet in a sassy and heroic posture in the center, which is exciting.
The female narrator who was born in Pujiang told us the historical record of the Chengdu Battle with gratitude, and there was a battle flag signed by many PLA soldiers in the picture, "Marching to the Southwest", which was particularly eye-catching.
Next to it is a map of the Chengdu campaign with dense arrows pointing to Chengdu.
Commander Liu Bocheng and Commander Deng Xiaoping formulated the policy of "closing the door and beating the dog."
He Long, Wang Weizhou, Zhou Shidi and other leaders commanded the battle at the front.
The soldiers of the Second Field with rifles on their shoulders and rice bags on their shoulders, and the artillery and baggage troops in the shuttle.
Rush to Chengdu like the waves of the great river and defeat the Jiang dynasty! Liberate all of China!
The people of Chengdu welcomed the People's Liberation Army into the city and jointly celebrated the liberation of Chengdu.
Under the guidance of the female docent, we seem to have returned to that exciting moment of liberation of Chengdu.
Wu Xiaoxian is my father. He was a veteran soldier who once represented the Chinese People's Liberation Army in the enemy's headquarters and successfully persuaded the Kuomintang to surrender the Li Wen Corps, the last regular army of the Kuomintang on the mainland. He held the commemorative medal for the liberation of the southwest and said: "My commemorative medal should be dedicated to the comrades-in-arms who died there when there is a chance." ”
The Battle of Chengdu laid an important foundation for the liberation of the whole of China, and I dedicate this third-class Liberation Medal to the people of Chengdu. I look forward to the day when we can realize the reunification of the whole of China.
In 1937, he resolutely joined the revolution and joined the Eighth Route Army in 1938, starting a glorious military career of more than 70 years. In those magnificent historical years, whether it was the eight-year War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the War of Liberation, or the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, and the army of building New China, he always charged ahead.
Eight years of resistance and defeated the Japan devils. In the journey of liberation, he carefully cultivated the combat hero Wang Keqin. With extraordinary courage, he stepped into the enemy's headquarters and successfully persuaded the Kuomintang to surrender the last regular army of the Kuomintang, Li Wen's Corps, and made immortal contributions to the peaceful liberation of Chengdu.
Resist US aggression and aid Korea, protect the family and defend the country. On the battlefield of the tragic Shangganling Campaign, he led his 106th Regiment of the 34th Division of the 12th Army to fight for 28 days and nights with a tenacious and unyielding will to fight, and finally planted the banner of victory on the Shangganling position.
In the process of building New China, he actively cultivated the "Guo Xingfu Teaching Method" for the army and made outstanding contributions to national defense construction. My father was also honorably received by Chairman Mao seven times, and this honor was a high recognition of his outstanding contributions.
Now, I have fulfilled his old man's wish in Pujiang, Chengdu, standing under the monument, looking at the battlefield of that year, full of emotion.
What was once a battlefield has now become a forest of fruits, beautiful villages, and a high-quality environment that allows people to live happily. I can comfort my fathers: your blood has not been shed in vain, and the people of Pujiang thank you! The people of Chengdu thank you! Thank you, Motherland! Their dedication and sacrifice have brought peace and prosperity to today, and their spirit will forever inspire future generations to forge ahead on the journey of the new era.
