The smoke of gunfire on the front line in Ukraine has not yet dissipated, but the diplomatic battlefield has already surged undercurrents. Zelensky's sudden expression of willingness to include the proposals of China and other countries in the "peace plan" reminds people of the old saying - there is no way out of doubt, and there is another village.
The president of Ukraine has been busy lately. One moment he publicized the "victory plan" in a high-profile manner, and the next he began to ponder the "peace plan" again. This 180-degree turn is really dazzling. So the question is, what kind of medicine is sold in Zelensky's gourd?
It looks like it's a nose of dust. Zelensky had just been in Brussels to promote his "victory plan" to the leaders of EU countries and the defense ministers of NATO countries, and he was given a cold reception on the back foot. Germany Chancellor Olaf Scholz objected on the spot, and Poland's defense minister bluntly pointed out that the West was not interested in this plan. This is good, I wanted to show my strength, but I didn't expect to not even be able to enter the door.
This scene is reminiscent of the scene when I begged my parents to buy toys when I was a child. At the beginning, the lion opened his mouth wide, asking for the most expensive and coolest one. When the parents frowned, they immediately changed their words and said that it would be okay to make it cheaper. Zelensky's operation, isn't that the truth?
But then again, the political wisdom of the Ukraine leader is really not to be underestimated. The West doesn't buy it? Then turn your attention to neutral countries such as China and Brazil. This trick of "saving the country with a curve" can be described as slippery. If you don't give me a high-priced order, then I'll find another customer. This kind of trick of wanting to get away with the past may really make the West unable to sit still.
Of course, it is too early to say that Zelensky really wants peace talks. After all, people are still dead and unwilling to sit down and talk with Russia. This is more like playing psychological warfare with the West - if you don't meet my demands, I will go to China to cooperate. This kind of "half-pushing, half-doing" posture has to be said to be clever.
When it comes to China, it's not just a cover. In this protracted conflict, China has always maintained an objective and fair position. To be impartial, not to steal or to rob means to make suggestions for peace in a down-to-earth manner. This determination and responsibility have impressed many countries.
Look at the other countries mentioned by Zelensky. Brazil, India, Saudi Arabia, which can come up with a decent peace plan? China is still the only one that has put forward a set of actionable proposals. Therefore, Zelian Jiji is a dark Chen Cang of Ming Xiu Plank Road, on the surface, he said that he wanted to listen to the opinions of many parties, but in fact, he was mainly coming to China.
It is interesting that while the West is shouting for peace, it is constantly adding fuel to the fire. In China, on the other hand, it is true to the word. It has never advocated the use of force or sanctions to solve problems, but has insisted on resolving contradictions through dialogue. Isn't this kind of pragmatism what is needed most now?
China's peace proposal is not a castle in the air. For example, the establishment of a multilateral negotiation mechanism where all parties can sit down and have a good conversation on an equal footing. Coupled with China's strength in the economic, scientific and technological fields, this "additional version" of mediation really has some weight.
You know, war is not just about fighting, killing, and killing. None of the ceasefires, negotiations, and implementation of agreements can be accomplished overnight. This requires a strong comprehensive strength to back it up. From this point of view, China is undoubtedly the most suitable messenger of peace.
Looking back at Zelensky's statement, it is not a good move. After all, in this war where there are no winners, it is better to have a glimmer of hope for peace than to lose both. Whether out of desperation or strategic considerations, as long as we can create more possibilities for peace, it is worth affirming.
Of course, it is too early to say peace. After all, the smoke of gunpowder on the battlefield has not yet dissipated, and there is an undercurrent surging at the negotiating table. But having a neutral force like China involved in it has at least brought a glimmer of hope to this protracted conflict. Perhaps in the near future, we will really be able to see Russia and Ukraine sit down and talk calmly.
If that day happens, the whole world will breathe a sigh of relief. After all, peace is the common aspiration of mankind. Whether it is Ukraine or Russia, whether it is the East or the West, it will eventually return to the negotiating table. I hope that this day will come as soon as possible, so that people in the war can see the dawn of hope again.
