Recently, Lao Pei, a truck driver from Hubei, sent a big red pennant to the representatives of the trade union of the road freight transport industry in Yingde City, Qingyuan, to thank them for their warm help in a traffic accident.
In recent years, the Qingyuan Yingde Federation of Trade Unions has actively carried out a centralized action for workers in the new format to establish and join the union, and in September last year, the Yingde Road Freight Transport Industry Trade Union was selected as the pilot unit of the new trade union representative system. In the process of promoting the trade union representative system, the Yingde Federation of Trade Unions has explored and formulated a trade union representative system with the characteristics of the freight industry, and strived to implement the performance of trade union representatives and open up the "last mile" of serving new forms of workers.
In July this year, the Yingde Federation of Trade Unions made a special report to the 12th National Enterprise Democratic Management Research and Inspection Team on the promotion of the new trade union representative system, which was affirmed.

In June last year, the Guangdong Provincial Federation of Trade Unions issued the "Pilot Program on Organizing Trade Union Representation in the Province's New Business Trade Unions", and decided to vigorously carry out the construction of the trade union representative system in the province's new business trade union organizations. The Qingyuan Federation of Trade Unions took active action and selected 4 counties (cities and districts) as the first batch of new trade union representative system pilots, and the Yingde Road Freight Transport Industry Trade Union Association was one of them.
It is understood that the Yingde Road Freight Transport Industry Trade Union was established in May 2022, and under the promotion of the trade union organization, the industry party branch was established at the same time. When guiding the industry trade union federation to carry out the work of trade union representation, the Yingde Federation of Trade Unions took the "party building leading the industrial construction" as the guide and encouraged the party members of the industry party branch to actively participate in it. After democratic election, 3 party members of the industry party branch and another 24 member representatives, a total of 27 people, were elected as trade union representatives.
There are no rules. In order to ensure the orderly progress of the trade union representative system, after full communication and consultation, the Yingde Federation of Trade Unions guided the industry trade union to formulate the first "new form of trade union member representative work system" (draft for comments) of the province's new form of grassroots trade unions, and after fully soliciting the opinions of various enterprises and employees in the industry, the member congress of the industry trade union was convened for deliberation and approval.
In September 2023, the "New Business Union Member Representative Work System (Trial)" specially formulated in combination with the characteristics of the road freight industry was officially piloted in the road freight transportation industry in Yingde City. The work system clarifies and regulates the work of trade union representation from many aspects, such as form, responsibility, requirements, methods, supervision, etc., provides a theoretical basis for the work of trade union representation, and also points out the direction of work to trade union representatives.
In addition to formulating the representative work system and announcing it on the wall, the industry trade union association also publishes the name, photo, contact information and other information of the trade union representative in a conspicuous position in the office, so as to facilitate the truck drivers to get in touch with the trade union representative, and uniformly make the representative card and the exclusive representative red vest to "show the identity" to the majority of employees in the industry.
Combined with the fact that most of the workers in the freight industry are both bosses and drivers, and the working hours are irregular, the cultural level is generally not high, there is almost no experience in democratic management, and it is difficult to perform the duties of representatives alone, the Yingde Federation of Trade Unions instructed the members of the industry trade union team to take the lead in establishing 5 trade union representative contact working groups, each group is composed of a trade union cadre + several trade union representatives, and each group contacts 25 to 30 industry enterprises in a group style To the greatest extent to provide sincere services for enterprises and employees in the industry.

The reporter learned that since the launch of the trade union representative system for a year, the trade union representatives of the road freight transport industry in Yingde City have been closely connected with the grassroots, actively responded to the demands of employees, and conscientiously solved the practical problems of employees, and are becoming more and more familiar and trusted "mother's family" of industry workers.
On March 15 this year, Lao Pei, a truck driver, collided with a passer-by on a motorbike on a section of the road in Dazhan Town, causing traffic congestion. Worried about delaying the delivery, Lao Pei hoped to settle the matter privately with the motorcycle owner as soon as possible. Who can help mediate? Lao Pei thought of the trade union representatives, and in his eyes, the trade union representatives were people who could be trusted.
After receiving Lao Pei's call, Wang Xiaocheng, chairman of the trade union association, immediately led two members of the trade union representative group to the scene of the accident. The representative of the trade union conducted a preliminary analysis of the basic situation of the accident on the spot, explained the relevant laws and regulations and the insurance claim process, and then put forward reasonable opinions on the division of responsibilities to both parties based on experience.
Living up to Lao Pei's expectations, with the active intervention of trade union representatives, the two parties finally reached a consensus through negotiation, and the traffic accident was dealt with quickly and properly. Lao Pei was also able to leave the site in the shortest possible time to complete the task of loading and unloading goods, which minimized economic losses. Afterwards, Lao Pei made a special trip to the door to send a pennant to the trade union representative to express his gratitude.
Also in the first half of this year, a truck driver accidentally hit a high-voltage power line while driving to the ring road, causing the power line to hang low, seriously threatening the safety of passing vehicles and pedestrians. In a pinch, the truck driver contacted the union representative of his group for help. Three union representatives immediately rushed to the scene to deal with it. While calling the police, they placed safety warning signs at the scene of the accident, and then found bamboo poles to prop up the low-hanging high-voltage lines to ensure that passing vehicles and people can pass safely, and constantly reminded passing vehicles and pedestrians to pay attention to avoid and prevent secondary accidents. After the traffic police and the power supply bureau personnel arrived, they assisted in handling the scene and did not leave until the matter was properly handled.
Since the implementation of the trade union representative system, truck drivers will also find trade union representatives for help when they encounter difficulties in life or disputes with enterprises, "We will respond as soon as possible, and solve them in a timely manner if they can be coordinated and solved, and if they cannot be solved temporarily, they will report to the superior trade union organization or other departments and try their best to coordinate and solve them." In Wang Xiaocheng's view, when you are a trade union representative for a day, you have to do something for the employees.
On a wall in the office of the Yingde Road Freight Transport Industry Trade Union, there are pictures of trade union representatives wearing red vests serving the workers of the new industry, and everyone gets along well and smiles brightly. According to statistics, up to now, the trade union federation of the industry has attracted 68 member units to join the trade union, developed nearly 541 trade union members, communicated and reported information 8 times by trade union representatives, and served more than 200 employees in the new format.
