On October 12, 2024, the first passenger aircraft and helicopter connecting route of a busy transport airport in East China successfully completed the test flight at the Xinhong Heliport of Shanghai Hongqiao Airport. The round-trip route from Hongqiao Airport to Wujiang, Suzhou, marks an important breakthrough in air mobility in East China, and is the first route in East China to seamlessly connect passenger aircraft and helicopters within a busy transport airport, setting a new benchmark for future air mobility development.
The test flight of this route has been strongly supported by the East China Administration of Civil Aviation, and has learned and learned from the advanced experience of Shenzhen Airport in general aviation management. On this basis, combined with the busy operation characteristics of Hongqiao Airport, a special control and command scheme for general aviation helicopters was innovatively formulated. This solution not only ensures the safety of flight operation at busy airports, but also effectively optimizes the connection efficiency between helicopters and passenger aircraft, and ensures the efficient and smooth operation of the entire route.
After many times of debugging and preparation, on October 9, the police aviation department took the lead in completing the test flight task, and on October 12, the Eastern General Aviation Company carried out a formal route test flight and achieved success.
As the first busiest airport connecting route in East China, the route makes full use of the respective advantages of passenger aircraft and helicopters, and passengers can quickly transfer to helicopters to Suzhou Wujiang after disembarking at Hongqiao Airport, greatly reducing the ground transportation time. This efficient in-flight transfer mode is ideal for business travelers who are pressed for time, providing a more convenient travel option.
With the success of this test flight, this route is about to enter the stage of normalized operation, and further improve the service and operation mechanism.
