"When you run, your arms swing naturally when you unload your strength, so you have to relax and enjoy running." In the fitness room for the disabled in Suining City, a group of special athletes are seriously preparing for the upcoming Guanyin Lake Marathon. With bright smiles and firm eyes, they are getting closer to their dreams.
According to the Suining Disabled Persons' Federation, a total of 24 hearing and physical disabilities signed up for the Guanyin Lake Marathon. Among them, 1 registered for the whole marathon, 14 for the half marathon, 7 for the happy run, and 2 for the parent-child run. Considering that long-distance running may increase the physical burden of the disabled, on October 13, the Suining Disabled Persons' Federation invited Kuai Yuanjun, the "Three Golden Kings" of the track and field event of the Sichuan Provincial Games for the Disabled, to explain the precautions for participating disabled athletes. From running skills to pre-race warm-ups, from in-race supplies to post-race recovery, Kuai Yuanjun carefully taught every detail of the exercise based on his own experience.
Under the leadership of the coaches of the Municipal Sports Team for the Disabled, the participating athletes came to the sports field for adaptive training, and the coaches corrected their running posture, optimized their pace, guided them to adjust their breathing, and helped them gradually improve their running performance on the basis of avoiding sports injuries.
Physical disability is not an obstacle to dreams, they are not only participants, but also challengers, and are a vivid footnote to the spirit of the marathon. The Suining Disabled Persons' Federation will conscientiously perform the function of "representative service management" to help the disabled chase their dreams and share a better new life in the new era.
