A new generation of Macao Resident Identity Card
Starting from 15 December 2023, DSI will issue a new generation of Macau S.A.R. Resident Identity Card through natural identity card replacement, and provide service counters, self-service card application machines and online visa application methods to facilitate residents to apply for identity cards through diversified channels. In addition, the Government Affairs Service Centre of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin has also set up self-service kiosks and card collection machines to provide Macao identity certificate application services.
As of 30 September 2024, about 110,000 residents have renewed their new generation of Macao Resident Identity Cards, of which 50% are electronic applications and 40% are over-the-counter applications.
The widespread use of e-services has greatly alleviated the pressure of frontline work, freed up resources to provide better services to the public, and effectively enhanced the efficiency and service quality of public administration.
Self-service application
Seven government 24-hour self-service centres in Macao will be put into operation from 5 December 2023 and will be equipped with new self-service card application machines and self-service card collection machines to facilitate eligible residents to apply for identity cards, travel documents and various types of certificates by themselves around the clock.
As at 30 September 2024, more than 218,000 people had used the identity card, travel document and certificate application services at the seven Government 24-hour self-service centres.
Apply for the certificate online
Starting from 15 March 2024, residents can renew their permanent identity cards through the "Macao One Account", and as of 30 September, the number of online applications has exceeded 5,800.
Door-to-door service
DSI also sends staff to schools and organizations to provide door-to-door visa application services to cater for the needs of different groups.
Promote cross-border government affairs and promote the integration of Macao and Qinqin
In order to facilitate Macao residents studying, working, starting businesses and living in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, the Identification Services Bureau (DSI) and the Commercial Service Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin will gradually set up self-service kiosks and self-service card collection machines at the Government Affairs Service Centres of the In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin from September 2023 onwards to provide Macao identity certificate services.
In order to facilitate Macao residents living in the district to apply for cross-border government services, a 24-hour self-service centre for government affairs will be set up at the "Macao New Neighbourhood" in Hengqin in October this year, which will be equipped with smart filing cabinets, self-service card processing machines, self-service card collection machines, multi-functional self-service kiosks and self-service kiosks of other government departments to provide the Macao SAR Government with comprehensive government services.
