The A+-class pure electric car market has recently ushered in a "city derby", MONA M03 from Xiaopeng and RT from GAC Aion "narrow road", similar price, similar positioning, so that they are inevitably a close "hand-to-hand fight". Today we will analyze the highlights of the two cars, who do you choose in the same city derby?

650 LiDAR version 169,800 yuan
Basic information about the vehicle
First of all, let's look at the overall situation of the two cars in terms of body size, range, and power. The Xpeng MONA M03 has a body size of 4780/1896/1445mm and a wheelbase of 2815mm. The whole series is available in three range versions of 515km/620km/580km, and two power versions of 140kW and 160kW.
The body size of the Aion RT is 4865/1875/1520mm, and the wheelbase is 2775mm. The whole model is available in two range versions of 520 km and 650 km, and two power versions of 150 kW and 165 kW.
Both models are front-mounted single-motor driven, and both are in the form of front MacPherson rear torsion beam suspension. The advantage of the M03 is that it adopts a liftback tailgate, and the trunk capacity reaches 621L under normal conditions. The RT, on the other hand, has a manual tailgate and a trunk capacity of 540 liters.
The advantages of RT are higher motor drive power, longer maximum cruising range, and the use of 400V+ silicon carbide platform, which can achieve 3C fast charging speed and higher energy replenishment efficiency.
Interior and configuration
The interior of the M03 is close to Tesla's minimalist style, with the cancellation of the instrument screen, no HUD head-up display, and only a 15.6-inch central control screen to provide interactive information, and the car machine chip is Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155P. Interestingly, Xpeng has launched an official external instrument screen for consumers who need it.
The M03 comes standard with 360 panoramic image, L2 driving assistance, panoramic sunroof, four-tone recognition, wireless charging for mobile phones, electric adjustment of the front seats, and memory of the main driver's seat. The mid- and high-spec models are equipped with ventilation and heating for the front seats, as well as 256-color ambient lighting.
The interior of the Aion RT is more luxurious, with more upholstery materials and decorative details. With a thin bar instrument and a 14.6-inch central control screen, the performance of the car machine chip is comparable to that of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155. The RT has put a lot of effort into the comfort of the seats, which are fully padded and the front and rear rows can be connected.
The RT comes standard with 360 panoramic view, concealed door handles, electric adjustment of the main and passenger seats, and ventilation and heating of the front seats. The high-end models also have 50W wireless charging for mobile phones in the front row, memory for the main driver's seat, a segmented canopy, and L2 driving assistance.
Compared with the two, the advantage of the Aion RT is that it comes standard with more seat comfort configurations, and the RT also supports external discharge function, which is not available in the M03. The advantage of M03 is that the standard configuration is richer, especially some practical functions.
Intelligent driving assistance
Intelligent driving is where the two cars work together, and the high-end models of the two adopt different solutions to achieve high-end intelligent driving functions, but there are differences in the functionality of the entry-level models of the two.
The mid- and low-spec models of the M03 are equipped with the XPILOT intelligent driving system, which is equipped with seven cameras, two millimeter-wave radars and 12 ultrasonic radars. It can achieve L2 intelligent driving assistance and support automatic parking.
The top-of-the-line model adds 4 cameras and 1 millimeter-wave radar, and is equipped with two NVIDIA Drive Orin intelligent driving chips, using XNGP intelligent driving system, which supports high-end intelligent driving functions such as navigation assistance, remote parking, memory parking, and remote summoning in high-speed and urban areas.
The amount of perception hardware for different models of the Aion RT is not yet clear, but the L2 driver assistance system is only available from the sub-low-spec model. However, RT's two high-end models are equipped with LiDAR and NVIDIA Orin-X intelligent driving chips, and adopt ADiGO intelligent driving system, which can realize functions such as navigation assistance and automatic parking in high-speed and urban areas.
Xpeng M03 adopts a more radical vision-based intelligent driving solution, but it still has millimeter-wave radar and ultrasonic radar as assistance, and does not rely only on visual perception like Tesla. Aion RT uses a higher-cost lidar solution, which is undoubtedly higher in terms of hardware specifications.
summary
The Aion RT is currently in the pre-sale stage, and there may be surprises in the price after the official launch. The two A+-class pure electric sedans invariably take intelligent driving as a highlight configuration, further lowering the threshold for high-end intelligent driving, from this point of view, Xpeng MONA M03 and Aion RT are good. However, there are still many differences between the two in product details, and consumers can choose the one that is more suitable for them according to their own needs.
