In February, The Walt Disney Company paid $1.5 billion to buy a stake in Epic Games and announced a multi-year partnership to create a new "persistent universe" for Fortnite featuring Disney's many characters.
Recently, Saxs Persson, executive vice president of Epic Games, revealed some details of the project for the first time in an interview with foreign media "The Verge".
"Disney wants a permanent (sustainable) project where all of Disney's products (like IP and characters) can be there, but they want to be part of the ecosystem that we've built," Persson said. ”
That's why Persson thinks it would be a great idea from a player's perspective to give players the freedom to experience (Disney-related content), (separate) Disney mode, or any (project) in Fortnite.
"But this partnership doesn't necessarily mean you'll be able to operate Mickey Mouse with a gun on Fortnite's Battle Royale Island, and not every costume can do everything." Persson added that this is due to the way IP should be presented for all ages.
However, Persson did not say in the interview when the Fortnite and Disney partnership will be released, saying only that "both companies are going all out."
