Thai media said that the police received a report from an informant before the operation that a large number of Chinese were operating online gambling and illegal money lending businesses in the area. The Chinese live in three villas. During the raid, the police found 6 Chinese men in the first villa who were making phone calls to provide illegal loan services to customers, and 1 Cambodian woman working as a maid in the villa.
At the same time, eight Chinese men were found on the second floor of the second villa, and nine computers and several mobile phones were seized. Five Chinese men were arrested inside the third villa, two of whom were operating computers, and they quickly shut them down when they saw the police.
The police revealed that the group of Chinese in the above three villas are all related to each other. The people in the first villa were responsible for luring customers into online gambling, and the people in the second villa were engaged in illegal lending activities against Chinese. However, after their arrest, they quibbled with the police that the third villa was mainly used as a food supply warehouse, which the police suspected.
At present, the above 20 Chinese and one Cambodian maid have been detained, and the police have confiscated computers, mobile phones and an unknown amount of cash and other stolen goods. The police initially charged him with carrying out work in Thailand without legal permission, and further investigation will follow.
