In the day care center of the community elderly care service complex in the cooperative street of Chengdu High-tech Zone, people often see such a scene: as soon as there is a need, the old people shout "little star", and a 19-year-old girl arrives immediately. The old people also like to pull Xiaoxing to chat, and get along with each other like the grandchildren of ordinary families.
Xiaoxing is an epilepsy patient in the old man's mouth, and with the help of the Qingjiang community, Xiaoxing has found a job at the daycare center in front of his home. Here, her daily routine is to buy groceries, bring tea and water, clean up, and help take care of the elderly. Over time, Xiaoxing also became the closest person to the old people.
This move not only "lit up" the retirement life of the elderly in the community, but also "lit up" Xiaoxing's life. In the past year, in the Qingjiang community, it was not only Xiaoxing who was "lit up", but also more than 200 people with disabilities -
In November last year, the Qingjiang community launched the "Loving Qingjiang · Disability Sharing" disability care and mutual aid project, and carried out a series of disability assistance activities in the community. At present, 229 people with disabilities in the Qingjiang community have successfully established a "one person, one file", in addition to the courage to "go out of the house", good job opportunities, and more importantly, to establish their links with the outside world.
Set up a volunteer team to establish an accurate "portrait"
The beginning of the story stems from a special number: 229. This is the number of people with disabilities in the Qingjiang community.
"That's a heavy number." The relevant person in charge of the Qingjiang community said that what is heavier than the numbers is the "weight" of special families, which often exceeds the imagination of the outside world.
She remembers that when community workers and microgrid workers first visited Xiaoxing's home, "it is not an exaggeration to say that the family situation they saw was 'a mess'" - Xiaoxing, who suffers from epilepsy, was born with intellectual impairment and his parents were sick at the same time. Reluctant to go out and unable to find a job, Xiaoxing's daily routine is reversed day and night, staying up late at night to play games and sleeping during the day. Because of this, I often have conflicts with my parents.
In the Qingjiang community, this is not an isolated case.
Lao Liu's family is a "double disabled" family, both husband and wife are sick, and there is also an eldest daughter with congenital intellectual defects and leukemia. When the social worker first entered the house, Lao Liu's family was very repulsed. He asked the social worker to stand at the door and called the familiar community worker for a long time before he was willing to let them in.
How can this group be integrated into society and build a true "disability-friendly community"? After brainstorming, the "Rongai Qingjiang · Disability Sharing" Caring and Mutual Aid Project for the Disabled (hereinafter referred to as the "Care and Mutual Aid Project") was officially launched in November last year.
The first hurdle after the project was launched was to establish "one person, one file" for 229 people with disabilities. The first challenge came before the task was "out of the house": the workload was tedious and it was difficult to gain the trust of the residents.
"The importance of one person, one file is self-evident. It is an accurate portrait that allows the community to know who has what difficulties and needs, and then responds to their individual needs, which is an important reference for accurate policy implementation. After several attempts, Yang Liu, a community worker in charge of helping the disabled, found that door-to-door communication between local residents was often easier than that of social workers, so they turned their attention to the community disabled persons' association, and Li Yongfu, a member of the community disabled persons' association, was invited to join the volunteer team at this time. Li Yongfu was disabled due to polio when he was a child, but he had a haircutting trade, and before that, he often volunteered to give haircuts to empty nesters, and was an "old friend" familiar to the elderly.
▲ Volunteer Service Team of the Disabled Persons' Association
In addition to linking the strength of the Disabled Persons' Association, the community also actively mobilized and organized enthusiastic residents to become volunteers, and Aunt Xie was one of them. She has a disability in one hand, but through her own efforts, she has grown up with her children, can be self-reliant, and also likes to do public welfare.
In this way, the community, the Disabled Persons' Association, community residents, grid members, micro-grid members, and professional social workers from third-party social organizations formed a volunteer team and successfully took the first step.
"One household, one policy" to establish a sense of belonging
With the help of the volunteer team, the "portraits" of 229 people with disabilities went smoothly.
After the successful establishment of "one person, one file", the community provides personalized services according to different personality conditions, links community rehabilitation institutions to enter the network, and carries out physiological rehabilitation according to the level of disability. At the same time, professional social workers intervene to break down psychological barriers through psychological rehabilitation activities. After the psychological and physiological two-way connection, we will use the way of holding community cultural, sports and cultural activities to guide them to go out of the house and into the society.
"I have met many people with disabilities in the community at the event, and I have found that they have developed a sense of identity with the community, and this group is gradually being recognized by society." By constantly "rebuilding the link", Yang Liu has seen more changes: from the initial reluctance to participate in the event to participate in the whole process of the event; From strangers at the beginning, they have become "good friends".
In addition to group activities, more importantly, the care and mutual aid project also screened 5 special cases on the basis of the previous portraits, and solved them one by one. Xiaoxing's family is one of them.
▲The social worker is communicating with Xiaoxing
After discussion, the community decided to solve the family conflict problem for Xiaoxing's family first. Under the community organization, professional social workers and Xiaoxing's family had a "face-to-face" in-depth conversation. With the help of a social worker, Xiaoxing reached an agreement with his father to sign a "bedtime contract". The main content of the contract is that the father is mostly tolerant of Xiaoxing's behavior, and Xiaoxing also needs to sleep on time every day. The emergence of the "contract" has greatly changed the way Xiaoxing's family gets along.
In addition to "internal problems", there are many more "external problems" that need to be addressed.
Xiaoxing wanted to work outside, but his epilepsy became a great resistance, and "no one wanted to hire". At this time, the social worker gave full play to her professional ability to provide her with vocational skills training and help her master the interview skills. At the same time, the community also helped her communicate with employers in the jurisdiction and match her with suitable positions. Later, Xiaoxing found a job opportunity at the Sunshine Center near his home, which led to the first scene.
The same change also happened to Lao Liu's family.
When entering the house, Lao Liu's eldest daughter once expressed a wish to the social worker: her mother is celebrating her birthday, and she wants to learn crochet skills and hook a tulip for her mother. Soon, the community organized a Mother's Day event with the "capable people" in the community. After studying that day, on Mother's Day, the eldest daughter gave this tulip to her mother.

These efforts soon paid off: now Xiaoxing will take the initiative to express her needs to social workers or micro-grid workers, and when there are activities in the community, she will also come to help as soon as possible and do what she can.
In Yangliu's view, this is a positive sign that they have a sense of belonging to the community.
Generate endogenous power in the community and let the project continue
It is worth mentioning that in the process of building a disability-friendly community, the Qingjiang community has also discovered more problems hidden under the surface.
The person in charge of the community mentioned that when communicating with the psychological institutions in the jurisdiction, "we happened to learn that some children in the jurisdiction and surrounding schools have different degrees of psychological problems". To make matters worse, many parents are reluctant to face this issue and seek professional treatment.
Aware of this, the Qingjiang community is also cooperating with a third-party psychological agency, and a project to address the mental health of adolescents is also underway.
Fortunately, due to the establishment of the volunteer team and the two-way interaction with the caring businesses in the jurisdiction, the community has also gained endogenous strength, and more continuations are also happening in the "invisible" places.
Qingjiang community has a "community micro-wish", residents make a "micro-wish", and the street, community, and caring businesses respond. In the volunteer group, once the "micro-wish" is released, the situation of "receiving orders" and "grabbing orders" occurs from time to time, and there are often cases of "slow hands".
▲Enthusiastic volunteers wash curtains
For example, there is a mother-in-law Liang in her 80s who lives alone, and it is inconvenient to climb the hill, and the curtains have not been cleaned for a long time. When the social worker found out about the problem when she entered the house, she made a "micro-wish" for someone to help her clean the curtains. On the same day, a group of enthusiastic volunteers took the initiative to come to the door to help
Uncle Liu, who is blind in both eyes, also made a "micro wish": he hoped to receive a radio. By linking the caring merchants in the jurisdiction, the community responded to his "micro-wishes". "Lao Liu was very happy when he visited and thanked us vigorously." Social worker Shi Xincheng said.
During this year's National Day for the Disabled, Qingjiang Community created a scene simulation experience activity on the community basketball court, allowing ordinary residents to experience the obstacles of the disabled in life, hoping to resonate with them and give them more understanding in their daily lives. The feedback generated by this interaction is two-way – in interviews, people with disabilities mentioned finding a sense of "being needed" in volunteering. On the other hand, the community also knows the right way to care for people with disabilities in the process.
Under the integration of the disabled, another kind of power about role models continues in the community. Paralympic shooting champion and Beijing Paralympic torchbearer Dong Chao is a member of the Qingjiang community, where he tells stories of hard work and self-improvement to the younger generation outside of training. "Life can go from obscurity to flowers and applause, but we must not forget our original intention, stick to our dreams, and face the competition and life with a normal heart and learning attitude." He told everyone not to be afraid of setbacks, which are just a deliberate "arrangement" from heaven to accelerate our leap.
In Qingjiang Community, relying on the three-level grid management system of general grid, general grid and micro grid, more professional forces have entered the community, entered the courtyard and came to the residents, and more subtle changes are fermenting and continuing. These changes have created an unbounded space for integration and exchange for special groups and ordinary residents, and the resulting goodwill and warmth have converged to jointly build the core of Chengdu, a happy city.
