Traditional Chinese murals, an ancient form of painting, are a wonderful chapter in the world's ancient painting art. Over the years, the Gongbi Painting Institute of the Chinese Academy of Arts has focused on the study of ancient Chinese murals, with the copying of works as the core, and the theoretical research and the exhibition of achievements at the same time. On the one hand, it is committed to dismantling and restoring the unique way of traditional mural production, tracing and recording history, paying tribute to the "beauty of art" and "beauty of culture" of ancient murals, and exploring its "beauty of craftsmanship" and "craftsman spirit". On the other hand, from an interdisciplinary perspective, it deeply explores the development and inheritance of ancient Chinese mural paintings, which not only provides unique cultural support and historical memory for the progress of the times, but also provides nourishment for artistic innovation and explores the contemporary significance of ancient Chinese murals.
