He joined the army at the age of 14 and became a soldier in the People's Liberation Army; at the age of 22, he joined the Chinese Communist Party and became a loyal and determined party member. For Tao Yuling, an 87-year-old film performance artist, her path to joining the party has been tested by war.
In 1949, at the age of 14, Tao Yuling came to Nanjing from her hometown of Zhenjiang and entered the drama team of East China Military and Political University, and the president at that time was Chen Yi. She still remembers that President Chen Yi gave to the students at the opening ceremony with the theme of: Serving the People, "This speech has guided my life. ”
In 1953, Chiang Kai-shek, not willing to be defeated, mobilized more than 10,000 troops from the army, navy, air force and paratroopers to set sail from Kinmen in a vain attempt to retake Dongshan Island. With the cooperation of the militia and the local people, the 80th Regiment of our public security guarding the island carried out a heroic resistance against the enemy who landed, which was the defense of Dongshan Island.
At that time, Tao Yuling was working at the People's Liberation Army Art Theater of the East China Military Region, and the troops often went to Zhejiang, Fujian and other places to give condolences and performances to the frontline soldiers. When the battle to defend Dongshan Island began, the troupe was carrying four trucks of sets and props to Xiamen to offer condolences and performances, and as a result, they received orders from the military region and went to Dongshan Island. Tao Yuling bandaged the wounds of the soldiers during the day and performed for the soldiers on a makeshift stage at night. She temporarily learned the folk dance "Running Donkey", which was popular all over the country at that time, this performance required her to keep turning in circles on the stage, and soon, her knees were worn out, and her skirt was full of blood marks, but the soldiers were very touched after reading it, the applause and cheers were thunderous, and she also learned bravery and strength from the soldiers, and began to have the idea of joining the Chinese Communist Party.
Tao Yuling has never had a birthday in her life, but she clearly remembers the moment when she submitted her application to join the party, "her face was red and her heart was full of worship." Her introduction to the party is Wu Bin, who is now 97 years old, and the other is Zhu Zhaozhang. In her application to join the party, she wrote: I want to fight for the cause of communism all my life.
Soon, the Literary and Art Work Troupe of the Political Department of the East China Military Region organized a performance of the drama "The Frontline of the East China Sea" created based on the "Defense Battle of Dongshan Island", in which Tao Yuling played Yang Saiying. The play soon became popular all over the country, not only to Shanghai, but also to Beijing. Tao Yuling remembers that shortly after performing in Beijing in 1956, she officially joined the Chinese Communist Party and became a party member.
Tao Yuling recalled that there was no formal oath-taking ceremony at that time, but old party members sat together and gave their opinions. "The sentence I remember most clearly is, Tao Yuling, after you join the party, don't 'suffer from gain and loss.'" The four words of "suffering from gain and loss" are heavy, always reminding me not to forget my party membership, and from then on, Tao Yuling is no longer the original Tao Yuling, always listen to the party's command, and the party needs me to do whatever I want. ”
As an actor, it is Tao Yuling's unshirkable mission to move the audience by creating wonderful roles. On the road of actors, Tao Yuling also has her own idols, that is, Jiang Jie in "Eternal Life in the Fire" played by Teacher Yu Lan, the gold ring and silver ring in "Wildfire Spring Wind Fighting Ancient City" played by Teacher Wang Xiaotang, and Li Yumei in "Children of the Party" played by Teacher Tian Hua. In 1961, after being named the "Twenty-Two Stars", Tao Yuling also posted their photos at the head of the bed, encouraging herself to become a good actor like them.
In 1957, after the release of "The Story of Willow Castle", which she starred in, it became a national fire. There were many people who came to her to shoot a play, and at that time, director Gan Xuewei took the script of "The Wind From the East" to invite her to join, which was the first co-production after liberation, and the opportunity was very rare. However, the leaders of the unit believed that Tao Yuling was a party member and a soldier, and that it was her most important task to perform in the army, so he let her push off the invitation of "The Wind From the East". Tao Yuling did not complain for half a word, "Everything must obey the party's command, obey the party's arrangements, and cannot smear the party." Tao Yuling has had four cancers, but she has survived each time and is still living healthily. In the middle, in addition to the superb medical skills of the doctors, the strong personality and optimistic mentality are also one of the magic weapons to defeat cancer, "During the treatment of adenoid cystic cancer on the maxillofacial area, I wrote in my diary: Communist Party members are not afraid of death, are they still afraid of cancer? Practice has proved that cancer is not terrible, it is just the name of a disease, and many people are scared to death. ”
The 87-year-old teacher Tao Yuling is still active on the stage. She was also invited to give party lectures at the Dongcheng Neighborhood Committee and other units, leading the new party members of the Bayi Factory to take the oath, which made her later life busy and fulfilling.
