The reporter learned from the press conference of the 2024 China Farmers' Harvest Festival (Laoshan venue) and the 11th Wanggezhuang Big Steamed Bun Cultural Festival held on September 19 that in 2024, as of the end of August, Wanggezhuang Street in Laoshan District will produce 11,000 tons of steamed bread, achieving an output value of about 120 million yuan.
It is reported that this year's farmers' harvest festival in Laoshan District will join hands with Wanggezhuang Big Steamed Bun Cultural Festival for the first time to fully display the charm of urban agriculture, sightseeing agriculture, leisure agriculture, boutique agriculture and the intangible cultural heritage of Wanggezhuang Big Steamed Bun in Laoshan District. On the morning of September 22, the opening ceremony of the event will be held at the Wanwan Party and Mass Service Center in Wanggezhuang Street.
At the press conference, Zheng Leixian, a member of the traditional warfare committee of Wanggezhuang Street, Laoshan District, said that Wanggezhuang steamed bread has a history of more than 500 years, and the unique formula of "special flour + Laoshan water + manual kneading + iron pot steaming + firewood burning + traditional craftsmanship", coupled with the inheritance and innovation of Wanggezhuang people's intangible cultural heritage craftsmanship, has continuously enriched the product types of Wanggezhuang steamed bread, and continuously improved its appearance and quality.
In addition to the traditional steamed buns, Wanggezhuang steamed buns also launched birthday series, festival series, baby series, health series, wedding series, creative refreshment series, cartoon series and other fancy steamed buns.
In 2024, by the end of August, 11,000 tons of steamed bread will be produced in the street, with an output value of about 120 million. Compared with the production of 12,000 tons of large steamed bread in 10 months in 2023 and the output value of 108 million, Wanggezhuang big steamed bread has sold better this year, completing the gorgeous transformation from table pasta to the 'leader' of the characteristic economy.
According to Zheng Leixian, this year's Wanggezhuang Big Steamed Bun Cultural Festival takes "This Young's Wanggezhuang" as the theme, and sets up nine "steamed bun" plates around "youthfulness" to create a new model integrating "food, housing, transportation, travel, shopping and entertainment", further promote the high-quality development of the agricultural, cultural and tourism industry, and help rural revitalization improve quality and efficiency.
This year, Wanggezhuang Street will cooperate with Qingdao Agricultural University and Qingdao Lemon Bean Entrepreneurship Service Co., Ltd. to release the preservation technology of Wanggezhuang large steamed buns. Cooperate with Qingdao Technician College to organize the Chinese pastry chef certificate examination to improve the skill level of big steamed bread practitioners. At the same time, Wanggezhuang big steamed bread enterprises and merchants will be organized to participate in the second Shandong Province Agriculture, Forestry and Water System Flower Steamed Breads (Flower Buns) Production Skills Competition, and hire the winners as mentors to conduct pattern steamed bread skills training for big steamed bread merchants, and use good help to promote the high-quality development of the big steamed bread industry.
The street will also hold a fancy steamed bun competition and product display promotion and order meeting in Changwan Villa, Wanggezhuang Street on September 21 and 22 respectively, inviting representatives of homestays, Qingdao star-rated hotels, Laoshan District Catering Association customers and citizens and tourists to participate, and further strengthen the extension of the industrial chain and market expansion through the integration of resources from all parties. It will also carry out the activity of "Wanggezhuang Special Agricultural Products Urban Community Tour", organize big steamed buns to go out of Wanggezhuang, into buildings, into business districts, and into communities, and continuously expand the popularity and influence of the big steamed bun cultural festival.
